Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR digital camera : Fujifilm announces their latest Touch Screen sensation: the Fujifilm Z800EXR featuring a new second generation EXR sensor and Hybrid Auto Focus System. Hot on the heels of its multi-award winning predecessor, the stylish Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR is set to hit the shelves this autumn. With its sleek design and advanced features including a large and intuitive 3.5” touch-screen LCD, internal Fujinon 5x zoom lens, 12 megapixel EXR sensor featuring the new Hybrid Auto Focus System and enhanced Dual Image Stabilization, the Fujifilm Z800EXR will produce high quality images. Key feature of this FinePix camera is the second generation EXR sensor with Phase Detection AF and advanced image quality. |
Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR offers fast and intelligent Phase Detection AF system
What can we say about EXR’s new Phase Detection auto focusing system? It’s quite unbelievable how immediate it is; 0.158 seconds! Phase detection AF works by dividing the incoming light into pairs of images and calculating the phase difference to check whether the object is in front focus or back focus position. The mechanism of the Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR is same as that of external sensors on DSLRs and achieves an incredibly fast auto focus speed of 0.158 seconds. The benefit for the photographer is immediate and obvious: an almost instantaneous capture of your image, with no missed shots or subjects half out-of-frame.
Two focusing systems for Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR camera
The new EXR sensor of the Fujifilm Z800EXR has the ability to intelligently decide between the two focusing systems on the camera using its Hybrid Auto Focus System to measure the amount of light and contrast in a scene and select the optimum setting: when a bright, high-contrast subject is positioned in the centre of the frame, super speedy Phase Detection AF focuses and takes the photo in 0.158 seconds which is about the same length of time it takes you to blink! In dark, low-light scenes, Contrast AF is employed to work accurately as it does in conventional digital cameras.
12 Megapixel Fujifilm Z800EXR with EXR sensor technology
Introduced in 2009 with the FinePix F200EXR compact camera, this radical new approach to sensor technology has been met with rave reviews and numerous awards from international industry organizations such as EISA and TIPA. The Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR sports the latest 12 megapixel second generation EXR sensor, offering even higher resolution than its predecessor whilst still offering class-leading dynamic range and low noise/high sensitivity options. EXR technology was developed by Fujifilm to maximize image quality in cameras where larger sensors simply cannot be used, making it perfect for long-zoom compacts, and delivering extraordinary results even in the most challenging of conditions.
Increased picture quality with Fujifilm Z800EXR camera
Designed to emulate the human eye, the unique design of the EXR sensor enables the user to switch the behavior of the sensor according to the scene to the photographed. When the light is strong and even, the Fujifilm Z800EXR camera can be switched to HR (High Resolution) mode to ensure every small detail is recorded. When light is strong but contrasty, the sensor can switch to DR (Wide Dynamic Range) mode to get the optimal balance between highlight and shadows. Lastly, in low-light, the sensor will switch to SN (High Sensitivity and Low Noise) mode, to ensure you achieve clean, noise-free, pictures even in dark shooting conditions.
Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR ensures easy operation via Dual Direction GUI
You really do touch and glide with the Z800EXR’s brilliantly-designed touch-screen. Not only can you opt to touch and shoot and touch and zoom, but probably the most impressive use of this feature is flicking your way through your photos on the large 3.5” LCD. With a generous 460K dots, this screen is able to show every single detail in photos you capture and play them back in superb high resolution. With its Dual Direction GUI and Dual Image Display, navigating though the Fujifilm FinePix Z800’s functions is smooth and easy; the Dual Direction GUI detects the orientation of the camera and automatically switches the direction of the menu button accordingly (for shooting, playback, multi-viewing and image search), whereas the Dual Image Display function splits the screen in various ways to view multiple images at once, so you can scroll through your images quickly and easily to locate the one you are looking for. Use it as a mini photo album and while-away many hours looking back over your photos and showing them off to friends and family.
Fujifilm Z800EXR test creative skills of photographer
With a newly enhanced gyro sensor, the new image stabilization system promises further improved image quality with reduced blurring and noise in pictures and movies, even when shooting at the full 5x optical zoom or in very low-light. The new sensor is able to overcome handshake and can compensate for both sharp and wide hand movements, therefore it is no longer necessary to increase the ISO quite so much to freeze action, meaning you can achieve beautifully sharp low-light pictures at ISO400, rather than 800 or 1600. Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR features a high resolution HD movie mode (720p) with sound, and allows you to easily display ultra clear high definition photographs and movies on high definition televisions. (HDP-L1 HDTV connection kit and a HDMI cable are required to view your photos & movies on HD ready TVs.)
Update social media with Fujifilm Z800EXR web features
With its handy Facebook and YouTube easy-web upload feature, you can decide which pictures and movies you want to post on-line and mark them in-camera for upload. The next time you connect the Z800EXR to a computer, and launch the MyFinePix Studio software, your photos and movies will upload with a few seconds. A great time-saving device! Ever found that due to the volume of photos on your memory card, you can never quickly find the one photo you are looking for? Well, that problem’s been solved! Fujifilm’s Image Search tool on the Fujifilm Z800EXR allows you to locate photos quickly and easily; search by Date, by Scene Position (landscape, portrait etc), by Face, and even by your Favorites star rating. Genius!
Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR makes Motion Panorama 360˚ shootings
A popular new technology that allows you to take “sweep panoramic shots” ever so easily. New to the EXR II sensor, you literally select “panorama mode”, press the shutter button, pan around and let go, that’s it! You’ll have a stunning 360˚ horizontal shot (shots can also be taken vertically if required). Your home will soon become a gallery of your own panoramic shots with gorgeous framed memories of romantic sunsets and faraway beaches. The Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR is fitted with a class-leading flash control system that efficiently controls the flash power to produce beautifully balanced flash illumination across the foreground and background, even in macro mode. Gone are the ugly washed out shots where the subject is blasted with light and the background dark and under exposed. With the improved gyro stabilisation system, lower ISO settings can be used, meaning that slower shutter speeds give more balanced night portrait shoots, with smooth gradation and lower noise.
Fujifilm Face Recognition enhances FinePix FinePix Z800 experience
Taking Face Detection technology to the next level, Fujifilm’s Face Recognition technology allows you to pre-programme your camera to recognize up to eight friends/family. The Fujifilm Z800EXR will not only be able to search for pictures of your pre-programmed people quickly and easily, but also will optimize its settings for focus and exposure to favor your chosen few! The Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR isn’t just all about people; it features some very clever Dog / Cat Detection technology, too. This works in a similar way to Face Detection, and can detect up to ten cats or dogs in a scene and optimizes the settings for your four-legged friends rather than for any distracting background.
Fujifilm Z800 EXR offers Auto Release for photographs of babies and children
For those tricky shots of babies or children who will just not sit still, the Fujifilm Z800 EXR incorporates a new mode to automatically fire the camera as soon as your subject looks straight at the lens. Using Face Detection technology, the camera can ‘recognize’ when it can capture a front-on image of a human face, and will quickly secure the shot before attention is distracted. It takes the guesswork out of taking photos of babies and is remarkably successful at capturing sharp, high quality shots with minimal fuss.
Fujifilm FinePix Z800EXR review

Fujifilm Z800EXR test favorite search via rating system
New to Fuji’s 2010 range of cameras is the ability to rate your pictures using a star rating system. You can search images by the selected star rating, and view only your favourite ones. Select the images you want to feature in your Photobook in-camera; this task becomes even easier if you search by your top star rated images! This will save time at a kiosk or computer downloading and organising which pictures to include in your Photobook (print service availability depends on region). Or, you can simply enjoy viewing the selected images in an on-camera Photobook!
