Canon IXUS 300 HS camera review : The Canon IXUS camera series is made up of quite a few generations. Canon frequently introduces its design cameras that are especially aimed at the trendy amateur photographer. Now and then a camera turns out to not only be designed stylishly, but also to be progressive in the technical sense. The past generations were each equipped with diverse innovative functions, but it did not make the difference with the competition any clearer. The Canon IXUS 300 HS is a 10 Megapixel camera with 3.8x optical zoom. So far, nothing much is revealed.• Read our full Canon camera review.

Canon camera reviews : IXUS 300 HS
With specifications such as a special CMOS image sensor and a bright lens, the photographer’s expectations are stirred. Canon does not disappoint. Next to the automatic setting options, it is indeed possible for photographers to work with the known Av and Tv modes, or rather aperture- and shutter speed priority. Unfortunately, it is not possible to create a true minimal depth of field, even at f/2.0 aperture, but this is inherent to the small format of the sensor and the accompanying large depth of field.

Canon IXUS 300 HS image quality
The Canon IXUS 300 HS camera’s image quality is excellent. It has a pleasantly corresponding color reproduction, it is fairly natural and only slightly deviates from the calibrated Gretag Macbeth Colorchecker color card. The Canon 300HS suffers a bit from chromatic aberration in several cases with high contrast, but it is hardly visible, and only on the corner of the frame. We can accept the little distortion and the light corner blurring at 28mm wide angle, because for the rest, the zoom lens performs very well.

Canon camera review
We tested the Canon IXUS 300HS for a while. Additionally, the Canon IXUS camera was tested extensively on technical aspects in our DIWA lab on Madeira. Both results form a balanced end result for following the Canon camera review. |
