CanonCanon PowerShot SX210 IS review : The Megazoom digital cameras form a segment that do well, in terms of compact cameras. The compact design in combination with a large optical zoom range give the digital photographer a clear freedom in photographing diverse subjects at different distances. The Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is such a camera. Introduced at the beginning of this year, this new Canon megazoom digital camera is meant to be the most popular megazoom camera in its rank. At least if it’s up to Canon. The competition is not snoozing either. The new Canon PowerShot SX210 IS has a 14x zoom lens with a 14 Megapixel image resolution, which is a powerful combination for the recreational photographer.

Canon PowerShot SX210 features
The 28mm wide angle makes for an ideal focal point that allows the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS camera owner to shoot landscape images. Landscapes are often large and wide and that is exactly the impression that you want to create with a good composition. The large zoom range of the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS especially equipped for that. The advantage of the wide angle is the large focal range. Precisely for a landscape you want to achieve maximum sharpness. But dramatism is also an aspect that fits well with landscape photography. For example, by bringing the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS camera very close to a subject such as a flower or a rock, focusing and simultaneously including the background in the picture.

But it is not only the wide angle range of this new Canon PowerShot megazoom camera that makes it especially suitable for capturing landscapes. Also the telelens of almost 400 mm lends itself well to capture an interesting subject from the landscape or accentuating it in the composition. This way the subjects in the composition that are actually at a large distance from each other, appear ‘stuck’ very close together.

Canon PowerShot photography
An additional advantage of photographing with the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS camera is that it offers the possibility to adjust the lighting completely manually. The creativity of the photographer is free to run wild. Functions such as diaphragm- and shutter release choice, ISO, and focus can be set according to one’s own wishes. These possibilities make this Canon camera just a bit more interesting for the photographer than full-automatic compact cameras.

Still, the automatic setting plays a large role in the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS. By using far-reaching innovative algorhythms and analyzing often occurring lighting situations, the Canon designers have been succesful in integrating a very intelligent scene detection technology. What it comes down to is that the Canon PowerShot SX210 IS is able to select an optimal, pre-programmed scene based on the detection of certain characteristics. The new Canon PowerShot camera is able to recognize a landscape independently and to capture it optimally.
