HTCHTC Legend quick review : HTC Mobile was also present and presented several interesting mobile products during the Mobile World Congress in Spain, including the new HTC Legend Smartphone. That was not really a surprise anymore, as several rumors already appeared at the end of 2009 wherein the HTC Legend, among others was named. But holding the final, functioning product in your hands is still always the moment of the first impression. After the presentation we took the time to give the HTC Legend a more thorough look. The first thing that we noticed is that it’s solid, in terms of body quality, without making this new HTC smartphone heavy to hold.

This is due to the use of aluminum, what makes the Legend handset light and at the same time solid. Due to an adapted production process, HTC managed to make the Legend’s body out of one solid piece. That reminds us of the way in which Apple produces its new Mac Books. This production method is also called ‘reversed assembly’, in the case of the HTC Legend, by building the body first, and then installing the hardware inside. The result is in any case interesting.

HTC Legend Android phone

HTC Legend Android phone
The operating system, on which the HTC Legend smartphone runs, not unexpected, is Android. It is apparently Android OS 2.1, the most recent version of Google’s popular OS. The HTC Legend immediately benefits from the latest version of Android; Google Maps 3.1.2 is integrated, the operation speed is quite a bit higher and the support of Microsoft Exchange will also please business users. Of course it also includes HTC Sense technology.

HTC Legend touchscreen
The HTC Legend is equipped with a so-called capacity touch screen that reacts immediately and precisely to finger commands. The display’s resolution is heightened and now offers 384.000 pixels (800x480), of HVGA in terms of quality. The color saturation and the high contrast of the display are remarkable, which is due to the use of AMOLED technology. This is the same technology with which Samsung has managed to distinguish itself.

HTC Smartphone with Multi-touch technology
One of the hallmarks that iPhone users consider a matter of fact can now also be found in the new HTC Android smartphone: multi-touch operation. This technology makes it possible to operate the display with two fingers. By moving the fingers towards or away from each other, it is possible, for example, to zoom in and out of Apps. Such technologies contribute to the user friendliness of the HTC Legend. Additionally, this cell phone delivers good performance in terms of speed, as the 600Mhz Qualcomm 7227 processor delivers optimal performance.

HTC Legend camera

HTC Legend camera function
When we turn the HTC Legend mobile phone around, we see a small lens, behind which the digital camera unit is found. The zoom lens seems to remain the wish of the photographer, but technically not really feasible. Also this new HTC smartphone has a 5 Megapixel camera.

HTC camera phone with LED flash
Last year it appeared as if cell phones were also swept away in the Megapixel-race, but 2010 seems to be demonstrating that the opposite is true. The digital camera is supported by a small LED flash so that it is also possible to achieve good lighting with low light. But then the effective range of the flash has to be taken into consideration. In practice, it is very limited, with a range between 1 and 3 meters.

HTC Legend software

HTC Legend software applications
If there is a much-talked-about design, than it’s the different social networks such as Facebook and Twitter. Any smartphone nowadays has at least several integrated social media Apps. The HTC Legend Smartphone is no exception. There are two different software applications developed that ensure that all feeds and updates are collected and implemented as a single feed. We still have to experience it ourselves, but in theory it seems handy. In any case, you can follow the updates of your friends and family easier and faster.

HTC Legend review availability & price info
The HTC Legend Android Smartphone has aroused our interest and we will plan it in for a full smartphone review. As soon as a test sample is available, we will publish an full HTC Legend review with a high resolution photo gallery.
