 Motorola Quench quick review at Mobile World Congress : Motorola’s presence during the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona did not go by unnoticed. Motorola seems to make optimal use of the increasing popularity of Google’s Android OS. In the period preceding the MWC 2010, the air was buzzing with rumors about many new Android phones, including the so-called Zeppelin. The pseudonym Zeppelin received its official name, the Motorola Quench (Motorola Cliq XT for United States), and we were given a first impression during our visit to the show. The Motorola Quench is an Android smartphone that can be placed in the middle segment. The first sensation that the Motorola Quench Smartphone gives is fair, not very solid, but also not too cheap.

Motorola Quench Smartphone
The new Motorola Quench Smartphone runs on the Google Android Operating System. It is not yet clear which version, but we expect that the Quench smartphone runs or will run on Android OS 2.1. The Motorola Quench also sports the well-known MotoBlur, Motorola’s own social network service (Facebook, Twitter and MySpace), added to Android. Social media was a hot item at the Mobile World Congress, and we are curious to see how this will influence Facebook, etc. in the coming season.
Motorola Quench touchscreen phone
The Motorola’s operation is fairly fast and quite intuitive. The buttons under the display of the Motorola Quench handset are not very comfortable to use. They are a bit hard to push, and that is a detail that a manufacturer should want to avoid. The Motorola Quench’s reaction time is fast and the touch screen reacts as expected. Over the whole we are not really convinced, but keeping in mind that the Motorola Quench smartphone is a middle segment cell phone, we are not going to judge too harshly.
Motorola Quench camera features
Where Adobe flash causes problem for the well-known smartphone, we see that the Motorola Quench mobile phone is equipped with Adobe Flash Lite. YouTube video content was played without a problem during the short demo at the Motorola stand. Of course you can also create content yourself, for example via the built-in digital camera. The Motorola Quench Smartphone is equipped with a digital camera with 5 Megapixels and a LED flash to provide necessary extra light in dark light conditions.
Motorola Quench Android Smartphone
Remarkable is that the Megapixel-race has been put to an end since last year. For a minute it looked like cell phones would follow the compact and Digital SLR cameras, but now it appears that 12 Megapixels are truly an exception, and that 5 Megapixels are rather the rule rather than the exception. We consider this to be an excellent choice, as the road to success can be found in terms of quality and not quantity. And thereby, sharing digital content in the social network environment is not benefitted by high-resolution recordings. The Motorola Quench thus has five megapixels!
Motorola Quench review & availability
The new Motorola Quench smartphone is not a high-end flyer, but we expect that it will be fine smartphone for the masses. After the short review, nothing remarkable was remembered, but maybe that is also the power of the Quench. Just delivering the performance that is desired. We expect that the first Motorola Quench Android smartphone will delivered in Europe during the first quarter. Unfortunately, it is unclear if the Quench smartphone will be available for certain countries that lack a distribution network. |
