Nikon D3s digital SLR camera test : For a long time, Nikon users had been eyeing Canon with a slight degree of envy. Canon’s top models suffer less from noise. As a result, a group of photographers actually made the switch to Canon. That is; until Nikon introduced the D3. Thanks to this camera, Nikon regained the position that had been theirs for so long: at the top of the list, and first choice for most photo journalists. The D3 performs very well at high ISOs, is fast and has a great autofocus. There is not much to comment about the Nikon D3, however, Nikon has yet again updated the model to the Nikon D3s.• Read our full Nikon D3s review.

Nikon D3s SLR camera body
The Nikon D3s is a real animal! There is no way to describe it as a compact or light camera, because to put it bluntly: it simply isn’t! The D3s DSLR camera is one piece of solidness, and this is exactly what it feels like, too. The famous Italian designer Giuigiaro has done a great job by giving the D3s an extremely sophisticated appearance. Not loud or aggressive, but rather elegant and approachable.
Nikon D3s review - Camera operation
With all those buttons, the Nikon D3s may seem complicated to operate. And if you look at all the setting possibilities in the menu, you could easily get lost. However; if you look more closely, you will find the Nikon D3s is ever so pleasant and easy to operate. The buttons are in exactly the right spot, and everything offers you the support to take a good picture. However, you do need some skills, because although you can take great snapshots with the D3s, the camera is meant to do much more than just that.
Nikon D3s reflex camera review
Another useful change is the silent mode of the camera. The shutter sound is muted, making the camera less noisy. This happens at the expense of the frame rate, but is great if you, for example, have to work in a theater. For sports photographers, an extra 1.2x crop has been added. It will leave you with 8.4 megapixels and a bit more zoom. We had the Nikon D3s in our possession for some time, so that we could test the camera, and the results can be read in the following Nikon D3s review. |
