Samsung WB2000 digital camera : According to Amazon, we will soon be able to welcome a new Samsung digital camera. It is currently still unknown whether this is a region-specific release, or whether the Samsung camera will be introduced worldwide. We will bring you updates as they become available. We are talking about the Samsung WB2000 (here), a camera from the WB-series cameras (Europe), or Samsung HZ-series cameras (U.S.). The Amazon online shop states that the Samsung WB2000 is a 10 megapixel camera with 5x optical zoom, including an attractive 3-inch AMOLED display. The Samsung WB2000 will come with a price tag of £329.99/Euro381/$523, and will be available in May 2010.

Samsung WB2000
There is no footage available at this time, and also the specifications have not yet been revealed, however, the Samsung WB2000 is expected to be a luxurious entry-level camera. Luxurious thanks to its 3-inch AMOLED monitor; a typical Samsung feature through which the brand manages to distinguish itself from the competition gradually more often. The 5x optical zoom lens is expected to have a focal range of 24-120 mm, just like its predecessor, the WB1000, which was introduced exactly one year ago, that is; if we take May 2010 as the assumed release date.
Schneider Kreuznach wide angle zoom lens on the Samsung WB2000
Whether the Samsung WB2000 will be equipped with a Schneider Kreuznach wide angle zoom lens, like its predecessor, is not yet clear. If this zoom range is indeed 24-120 mm, it will be ideal to shoot landscapes or indoors in small spaces. The Samsung WB2000 is expected to feature a so-called Dual Image Stabilizer, both the electronic and the digital version. Motion blur and blur caused by slow shutter speeds should thus forever belong to the past.
Availability of the Samsung WB2000 camera
In previous years, Samsung refreshed its line of cameras in series of three, which always took place in the first quarter of each year. The third batch of cameras was usually around March, and we therefore expect the Samsung WB2000 to be formally introduced around that period. Its predecessor, the WB1000, was introduced in May 2009, which makes the overlap of one year quite plausible. It's simply a matter of waiting and seeing. As soon as more news becomes available about the Samsung WB2000, an update will be published. |
