Sony digital system camera : Rumors about an imminent new Sony camera are getting stronger by the day. The success of the Micro Four Thirds System cameras has finally sunk in with Sony, however, it seems lips are completely sealed, and not one word is being said about system cameras at all. A known fact is that everybody is waiting for a video function to be integrated in the Sony Alpha DSLRs. The unofficial reason for the lack of this type of video function up to now is the fact that Sony finds the performance not up to par, and is not satisfied with current technologies. Whether this will lead to the expected Sony system camera, remains to be seen, although several sources are indirectly pointing in that direction.

Sony Alpha 3D camera
There are several interesting features and new cameras expected from Sony. Naturally, there is the 3D story, and the integration of this technology in the Cyber-shot and Sony Alpha cameras. As to how and when, is yet to be announced, however, we expect it to happen in the summer, and before the Photokina 2010. A Sony Alpha 3D camera could very well prove to be the scoop of the show. Whether this is also true for the highly anticipated successor to the Alpha 700, is not yet clear, but a Sony DSLR-A750 3D camera would certainly be a stunner!

Sony system camera with video function
A segment in which Sony does not suffer from its major rivals Nikon and Canon, is the system camera market. Currently, this market is occupied by a number of renowned players, Panasonic and Olympus, and also Samsung; newcomer to a market which is still in full development. A Sony Alpha system camera would be able to make a big impact. Most likely, a Sony system camera would be equipped with a video capture function, Full HD and perhaps even 3D support. Support for SD / SDHC format cleared the way for SDXC memory card support. SDXC cards with a minimum storage capacity of 48GB (theoretical maximum of 2TB storage) and a fast data transfer speed are able to process 3D photography and Full HD video.

Sony Alpha system camera
We expect the PMA 2010 show will still be too early for a Sony system camera introduction. Perhaps a clue will be given during the PMA International Convention and Trade Show in Anaheim, Los Angeles, just like Samsung did at the time with the NX-system. In any case, it appears that 2010, unlike 2009, will be a very interesting year, at least for photography lovers! Bring on the Sony system camera and Alpha 3D camera...! |
