22 inch Apple iMac touchscreen display : Apple is apparently planning to introduce a new type of iMac. The model concerned has a 22"-touchscreen, and will be offered next to the current 21.5"- and 27"- models. It is unclear exactly when the Apple iMac models are to appear. Many manufacturers have introduced all-in-ones in the past year, and a large amount of these are touchscreen desktops. Apple, that has been producing all-in-ones for years in its iMac-series, does not yet have a touchscreen-model, but according to Digitimes, is planning to change that: Apple has apparently contracted Quanta, to manufacture the 22" iMac with touchscreen, and Sintek Photronic, also from Taiwan, will produce the touch-sensitivity panels.

New Apple iMac 22" touchscreen and new iPhone OS
The Mac OS X does not support touch-sensitive operation, but the iPhone OS obviously does. Although according to rumors, Apple will introduce a new version of the iPhone OS that supports larger screens and higher resolutions, at an event held at the end of January, it seems very unlikely that the manufacturer will use this software for the 22" Apple iMac. It is expected that the new Apple iPhone OS version will end up on a tablet that Apple will also announce at the end of this month, according to reports. |
