NikonNikon D3s High-ISO sample photos : Currently, the Nikon D3s is Nikon's flagship. If we go solely by the number of pixels, it would be the Nikon D3x that would take this title, however, looking at the latest innovative image techniques and the impressive improvement of ISO and signal/noise ratio, the Nikon D3s ranks at the top of the list. This is definitely promising for the future, for example, if these techniques will eventually be used in semi-pro and entry-level models. The Nikon D3s Digital SLR was made part of our team for a while, and was used to take many sample pictures. Also the video function of the Nikon D3s is included in the test procedures, however, for now, it is not our core interest.

Moreover, the name HSLR (High Definition Single Lens Reflex) is being mentioned gradually more often. However, video seems to be a regular feature in a DSLR camera these days, so whether there really is a need for a separate DSLR segment, remains unsure. In any case, High Definition video offers professionals an unprecedented flexibility in creative shooting. However, it's not just photographers demanding video capture options, in particular media agencies and press agencies and the increasing online presence of traditional media, are aware of the fact that video can be an element through which they are able to distinguish themselves from the dominant online publications.

Like the Nikon D3, the D3s features an image sensor with 12.1 Megapixels. What’s more; the image sensor is completely updated! The ISO range of the sensor has increased and is now able to deal with a basic ISO of 200 to 12,800, including an upgrade to 102,400 ISO through the menu of the camera. This is unsurpassed, yet very effective in those environments where the Nikon D3s is put to work. Nikon's innovative and accurate 51-point AF system provides high sensitivity in low light and delivers high performance when tracking fast moving objects. And at last we can make use of the advanced image sensor cleaning for the Nikon D3s, which reduces the amount of dust.
