NewsUSB fingerprint readers : UPEK announced that it has extended its popular line of CES-award-winning Eikon USB fingerprint peripherals with the launch of the company’s new EikonTouch readers. EikonTouch fingerprint readers utilize UPEK’s one-touch, placement sensors to deliver highly-accurate fingerprint authentication, compliance with government standards, and a very simple and friendly user experience. EikonTouch utilizes UPEK’s proven technology, which is being used in tens of millions of laptops, peripherals, physical access devices and card readers and the company’s USB fingerprint readers are already relied upon by government, enterprise, financial, healthcare, and education organizations.
TouchChip USB fingerprint readers
“We have successfully deployed tens of thousands of UPEK TouchChip USB fingerprint readers with our OneSign Platform in hospitals, banks, and other organizations for years because they work reliably for a broad range of users,” said Jason Mafera, Sr. Product Manager at Imprivata. “We are pleased to add the EikonTouch to our product line as it expands usability and allows us to provide customers with a device that is smaller, less expensive, and has more security features than traditional fingerprint readers."

There are two varieties of EikonTouch fingerprint reader: the EikonTouch 700 and the EikonTouch 300. The EikonTouch 700 fingerprint reader is designed for government applications requiring FIPS 201 certified image quality as well as for multi-user applications where high biometric performance and easy usability are both critical. The EikonTouch 300 with SteelCoat protective coating is designed for rugged environments and for cost sensitive applications requiring one-touch authentication. Both EikonTouch fingerprint readers deliver precise image quality to enable highly-accurate biometric performance, resulting in reliable authentication and a dependable user experience.

Fingerprint readers ideal for government and health care
“With the launch of the EikonTouch fingerprint readers, UPEK’s Eikon product line can now serve the needs of a broader range of applications, including those like government and health care that are driven by compliance and certification requirements,” said Mike Chaudoin, director of biometrics business development at UPEK.

Secure fingerprint readers from UPEK
Customers can now easily match the right fingerprint reader with each application’s requirements, by choosing from among UPEK’s compatible family of Eikon fingerprint readers, which ranges from low-cost swipe sensor devices to highly-secure, government certified, one-touch fingerprint readers. UPEK offers software development kits and tools to enable fast integration of UPEK’s reader solutions with a broad range of applications.
