SonySony CyberShot DSC-W380 digital camera : This time, it seems to be an actual information leak, rather than just a rumor. During a registration procedure, which is public to anyone with Internet access, a number of Sony cameras have emerged that are, to this date, still unknown. One of which is the Sony Cybershot DSC-W380 camera, a Cybershot camera that is yet to be introduced. At this moment, there is still only very little known about the camera specifications and the release date, but we can imagine that Sony is waiting for the Consumer Electronics Show 2010 to kick off, before launching the Sony DSC-S380. We will have to be patient to find out what the official specs will be.

Sony Cybershot W380

Sony CyberShot W380 camera specifications
We expect the Sony DSC-W380 to be equipped with at least a 5x optical zoom combined with an image stabilization system, or an optical stabilizer as we have come across in previous Cyber-shot W-series cameras. Neither the resolution nor the image sensor used are known at this time, however, our guess is it will probably be a CCD sensor with a minimum of 12 Megapixels. An R Exmor CMOS image sensor would be asking a bit too much, and it would also undermine the Sony WX1 and TX1. Yet we can imagine that later on during the year 2010, around the time of the Photokina show, Sony will equip the majority of the Cybershot range with an Exmor image sensor.

Sony DSC-W380 video function
Other than that, we are of course also expecting an HD Movie function in the Sony DSC-W380. High definition has become the standard for a digital camera, and should certainly be available. Whether the Sony Cybershot W380 will also offer movie editing inside the camera, we don't know yet, however, this could make the difference for the Sony W380, and would without question distinguish the camera from its competitors. As soon as we receive more information about the Sony Cybershot DSC-W380, will we bring you the updates.
