SonySony CyberShot DSC-W350 digital camera : It looks as though we're about to see a new Cybershot-W series cameras from Sony. Although we have received only minimal information so far, and it looks like the new Sony Cybershot W-cameras will not be introduced before the CES in Las Vegas. One of the new Cybershot cameras is supposed to be the Sony Cybershot DSC-W350. It is expected to feature a Carl Zeiss lens and at least a 5x optical zoom lens. When it comes to image resolution, we would like to see up to 12 megapixels combined with a Sony BIONZ processor. We do not expect the Sony DSC-W350 to feature an Exmor R CMOS sensor; instead, we think it will come with a CCD image sensor.

We expect there will still be a differentiation within the Cybershot W-series between the standard W- cameras with CCD sensor and the luxurious, or more advanced, W-cameras with Exmor R CMOS technology. Perhaps the Photokina 2010 will be the right time to equip the entire range of Sony Cybershot cameras with Exmor sensor technology. The Sony DSC-W350 will undoubtedly feature a wide-angle zoom lens of at least 28mm, and will thus be suitable to capture landscapes and small spaces both adequately and with ease.

Sony DSC-W350 optical image stabilizer
Considering the powerful BIONZ processor, a high ISO sensitivity of ISO 3200 should at least be possible. And since the previous W-series Cybershot cameras were equipped with an optical image stabilizer, the Sony W350 will surely not want to do without. An optical stabilizer is ideal to take handheld shots, as well as in dim light circumstances.

Generally speaking, we should be able to count on recording High Definition video with the new Sony Cybershot DSC-W350. The consumer knows very well that HD video is the right quality to lift the camera to the same level as that of his equipment at home. The screen size of the Sony Cyber-shot W350 is not yet clear, but Sony will have to go for a 2.7-inch screen and perhaps even a 3-inch format. Naturally, a Memory Stick PRO Duo memory card is used for storage. We will bring you updates on this new Sony Cybershot DSC-W350 camera as they become available!
