LG GU280 Popcorn mobile phone : What's up with all these sugar candy names and mobile phones? If you were strong enough to keep away from the LG Chocolate, and if you were then able to resist, albeit only barely, the NTT DOCOMO design phone with its chocolate layer, you will be tried again when the LG Popcorn phone becomes available. At this moment, the new LG cell phone has been announced in Italy, however, we expect the LG Popcorn to be available outside Italian borders too. The LG GU280 or LG Popcorn if you like, comes in a white-pink color. I am curious to see if an LG Lollipop, LG Cherry or LG Strawberry will actually turn up next. Could the marketing department really not come up with a more original name at all?

LG Popcorn features
The LG GU280 Popcorn is a so-called quad-band GSM phone with UMTS support. The screen is considerably smaller compared to that of smartphones. A mere 2 inch and a resolution of 176x220 pixels are available to provide information to its user. The LG Popcorn features an internal memory of 20MB, which is not a lot, however, it can be expanded by a microSD memory card. Strangely enough, the specifications state that the Popcorn supports up to 4GB. Is it really true that microSDHC is not being supported? That would be awfully hard to believe.
LG Popcorn handset
When it comes to its energy source, the LG Popcorn (GU280) uses a 900mAh Li-Ion battery, which should last for approximately 4 hours talk-time or 100 hours standby time. As for the integrated digital camera of the LG Popcorn, it isn’t exactly spectacular; it only provides 1.3 Megapixel of effective image resolution, which is the maximum achievement. Additional features are: Bluetooth 2.1, web browser and MP3 player. It may be clear that the LG Popcorn handset is a budget phone. But seriously; what’s with the popcorn? |
