CanonCanon PowerShot A2100 IS test : Because of its predecessor, the A2000IS, the fate of the Canon PowerShot A2100IS digital camera had already been sealed: it would no longer provide the A/S mode (Aperture/Shutter priority) for the creative hobby photographer. An enhanced automation took its place, which is perhaps more suitable for the target group the PowerShot A-series aims at. The Canon PowerShot A2100 IS digital camera went one step higher up the Megapixel ladder, now featuring a 12 Megapixel CCD image sensor.

Canon review : PowerShot A2100 IS digital camera
The Canon PowerShot A2100 IS camera has the same measurements and weight as its predecessor. A handy format to carry with you at all times, also thanks to its reasonable weight, even though it is not ultra-light. The plastic material of the housing feels rough, and that is why the camera still feels safe in your hand despite the lack of a real handgrip. The design of the Canon A2100IS compact camera is quite traditional with straight lines and softly curved corners. Several generations ago, the A-series still contained an actual handgrip, which made its appearance less compact. As for hand-fit, I prefer the older generation, which is by no means intended to diminish the A2100IS; it is just that the older design provided that little extra stability.

Canon PowerShot A2100 IS review - Camera operation
The operation of a compact camera should first and foremost be simple. As a user, you should be able to start photographing right away, without having to reach for the manual. In short; the Canon PowerShot A2100IS offers just that! The convenient green button is available; just activate the camera, point and shoot, and that's it. Luckily, the Canon A2100 IS camera has more to offer, even for the genuine amateur photographer.
