PanasonicPanasonic LUMIX DMC-GH1 gallery : At this time of writing, the Panasonic LUMIX GH1 is undergoing extensive testing; in practice as well as in the test lab. And it is in fact this combination that ensures an unbiased and balanced test result, which considers much more than just the (im) perfection of the camera techniques. The Panasonic GH1 is actually an enhanced version of the G1. The Panasonic LUMIX GH1 stands out, thanks to its video capture with continuous AF tracking. The Panasonic GH1 is the world’s first camera with exchangeable lenses, enabling Full HD video capture at a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels and a frame rate 60. Storage is carried out in AVCHD format with the auto focus function continuously activated and working.

It is this last function in particular that makes the difference compared to current video technology from rivals such as Nikon with the D5000 and Canon with the EOS 500D. A special lens has been designed for the Panasonic LUMIX GH1, which can also be used on the other Micro Four Thirds system cameras. This lens enables video capture with sound even if the Auto Focus engine is working. This does not lead to annoying sounds in the captured video, something competing camera brands are not yet able to offer.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH1
Compared to the LUMIX G1 camera, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH1 features two VENUS Engine HD image processors. This is required in order to be able to process large amounts of data. Additionally, the Panasonic LUMIX GH1 camera has an improved Live MOS sensor onboard. The new image sensor applied to the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH1 supports a number of image ratios. Thanks to the larger size of the sensor (14.1 Megapixels), in fact; larger than is used for the image (12MP), it enables shooting in the ratios: 4:3, 3:2 and 16:9 without a change of focal length.

The Panasonic LUMIX GH1 test photos were taken in Renkum, the Netherlands with a full production digital system camera which means that this LUMIX camera is equal to the model that the consumer can expect to purchase. Our DIWA camera test lab has tested the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GH1 camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint. The next period we will test the Panasonic DMC-GH1 Micro Four Thirds camera in practice and come up with a review soon.
