Olympus E-P1 photo gallery : During the European press conference that I attended, organized by Olympus in Berlin, we were given the opportunity to shoot with an Olympus E-P1 camera. This camera features firmware 1.0, although this is not yet its 'final' status, according to Olympus. However, we may consider the image quality representative for the Olympus E-P1 that will soon be available in the shops. During the time prior to the Olympus P1 introduction, the press speculated hugely about this eagerly-awaited camera. The night everybody actually saw the Olympus E-P1, however, the opinions proved to differ immediately. One person would be enthusiastic, whereas the other would be negative in response to the camera’s retro design.

Only a couple of hours after the worldwide announcement, Olympus had hundreds of test samples ready for the international press, to provide a few hours of shooting in practice instead of just theorizing about the P1. Relaxed shooting was ensured by providing a short tour around the most interesting areas of Berlin, during which various shooting moments were offered. The positive reactions after shooting with the Olympus E-P1 pen camera were remarkable. 'Pleasant, creative, challenging and comfortable' are some examples of how the press reacted.

My first experience with the Olympus E-P1 pen camera is also a positive one. I am under the impression I tend to shoot in a different way with the Olympus P1. Remarkably often, I used the built-in creative filter set, at which I frequently thought in black&white, or had a different view on a composition. The compact size of the E-P1 camera is extremely pleasant, making hour-long shooting surprisingly comfortable. As soon as an Olympus E-P1 evaluation sample comes in, I will test this Olympus Pen camera more thoroughly in practice, followed by the Olympus E-P1 review, for which the camera will also be extensively technically tested in our DIWA Lab.

The Olympus E-P1 test photos were taken during the Olympus E-P1 press conference in Berlin, Germany with a firmware version 1.0 Micro Four Thirds camera which means that this system camera is very close to the Olympus P1 that the consumer can expect to purchase. Our DIWA camera test lab will test the Olympus E-P1 camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint as soon as possible. The upcoming period we will test the Olympus E-P1 in practice and come up with a review soon. To download the original Olympus Pen test photos, click on the link below the pictures.
