 Canon EOS 500D sample pictures : The Canon 500D is a new digital SLR aimed at the amateur photographer. However; when solely considering the specifications, we would certainly place the EOS 500D in a higher segment, as they are quite impressive. Although the Canon 500D is quite similar to the 450D, in particular when it comes to its housing, the technical specifications lean towards the semi-pro EOS 50D, which certainly isn't the least among DSLR cameras. The Canon 500D features a powerful DIGIC 4 processor and is Canon's first entry-level digital SLR equipped with a 1080p HD video capture function. Whereas the 450D already featured a large-sized monitor, the equally large monitor of the Canon 500D provides a luxurious 920,000 dots.

Furthermore, the Canon EOS 500D features a high-precision AF system which employs 9 AF points. These 9 AF points are located throughout the frame to better accommodate off-centre subjects. For accurate focusing with fast aperture lenses, the central AF point features a high sensitivity cross-type sensor, suitable for lenses with an aperture of f/2.8 or faster. The Canon EOS 500D digital SLR camera powers 3.5 fps continuous shooting up to 170 large JPEG pictures (9 RAW).
Canon 500D Test : Image Quality
Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor works with the CMOS sensor to deliver 14-bit image processing, for smooth gradations and natural looking colors. DIGIC 4 also powers advanced Noise Reduction when shooting at higher ISO speeds, plus split-second startup times and near-instant image review after shooting. Canon’s built-in dust prevention system offers three ways of guarding images against the effects of dust: reduction of internal dust generation; an in-camera sensor cleaning mechanism; and the ability to map stubborn dust sports for removal with the included Digital Photo Professional software.

The Canon 500D test photos were taken in Purmerend and Hoofddorp, the Netherlands with a full production digital SLR camera which means that this EOS camera is equal to the model that the consumer can expect to purchase. Our DIWA camera test lab has tested the Canon 500D SLR camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint.
