SamsungSamsung WB500 photo gallery : In the beginning of this year, Samsung introduced a large series of cameras. Among which is the Samsung WB500, a Megazoom camera with small dimensions. The Samsung WB500 has been in the news before, when it was still a prototype, during the Photokina 2008. At the time, it was introduced as the world's first 10x zoom with 24mm wide-angle; however, today already encountering fierce competition from Panasonic with their 12x zoom camera (LUMIX T27) with a wide-angle zoom starting at 25mm. This combination is ideal for the all-round photographer and is also known as travel camera or holiday camera. It is with a reason that Panasonic has been quite successful for some time now with its Travel Zoom cameras.

The Samsung WB500 digital camera does not only provide a full auto mode, but also offers creative photography for the enhanced photographer. Shutter speed can be adjusted manually, and the same goes for focus and aperture. Additionally, ISO values can be selected from 80, 100, 200, 800, 1600 and even 3200 although the latter only at a lowered resolution of 3 Megapixels. The Samsung WB500 digital megazoom camera is not only able to shoot still-pictures, but also videos in HD quality.

The video quality is stored in 720p high definition resolution at 30 frames per second. The Samsung WB500 uses H.264 compression that enables sequential recording for a long time, thus using the memory capacity of the Secure Digital or SDHC memory card more efficiently. The optical image stabilization and the 10x optical zoom are also available during filming.

Our DIWA camera test lab will soon test the Samsung WB500 camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint. The next few weeks we will review the Samsung WB500 in practice and come up with a review soon. The Samsung WB500 sample photo gallery is taken in Artis Zoo, the Netherlands.
