Nikon Coolpix P6000 digital camera review : Nikon has enjoyed an enormous boost in popularity over the past year, which most photographers undoubtedly will have noticed. Nikon's digital SLR series is extremely successful, and not only for the professional. Both the entry-level model and the professional D3 have increased sales numbers, and Nikon seems to leap forward once again with the introduction of the Nikon D3x. This is all about DSLR cameras, which is quite striking indeed. The Nikon Coolpix digital camera series is a totally different call.• Read our full Nikon Coolpix P6000 review.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 review - Camera design
The material used for the housing of the Coolpix P6000 is partially plastic and metal. The Nikon P6000 body has clearly been developed for the consumer that loves photography. Small adjustments were made compared to its predecessor, the Coolpix P5100. For example, the P6000 weighs 40 grams more and the body has become slightly larger. The handgrip has remained the same and offers a solid hand-fit. The rubber coating feels pleasant and ensures a good grip.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 test - Setting possibilities
The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is a compact camera designed to appeal primarily to serious photographers or even to the professional looking for a second, more portable camera. The P series stands for Performance and knowing this, you'd expect a camera with more options than just the auto mode. Obviously, this is the case for the Nikon P6000. It's a camera packed with possibilities, from P/S/A/M mode to LAN and Wi-fi support. In short, it's a camera for the all-round job without requiring any special photography skills.

Nikon Coolpix P6000 review
The Nikon P6000 is also equipped with a 1/1.72 inch 13.5 Megapixel CCD sensor and a 4x optical zoom starting at a wide angle of 28mm. At first glance, an interesting digital camera for the enthusiastic amateur and a nicely sized second camera for the serious pro. The Nikon Coolpix P6000 is in fact the only camera of the Coolpix line that offers more than just the auto mode. This is what you'd expect from a Nikon camera, right? Whether this striking Coolpix camera is able to have a positive influence on the market share partly depends on its performance in practice. Our findings can be read in the following Nikon Coolpix P6000 review. |
