SamsungSamsung NX camera showcased at PMA Show in Las Vegas : As for the Samsung NX camera; it may have been introduced as a concept, but many things still remain unclear. There are no announcements whatsoever from Samsung about specifications that are not already in the press release, but as we look at the concept cameras showcased behind glass, we see features claimed like video capture. This makes us assume that the Samsung NX camera will be able to record videos. The DX format sensor that is going to be used in the future Samsung NX camera, is larger that that of the compact camera, which causes us to expect more from the image quality of this digital camera.

The amount of resolution Samsung is going to apply on this new concept is unknown, however; if we consider the camera will not appear before the end of 2009 or beginning 2010, 14 Megapixels seems quite likely. The camera concept is still not too small, slightly more narrow, but it all depends on the type of lens Samsung plans to use. A similar Olympus E-420 or Pentax K2000 is not much bigger than the Samsung NX concept.

Micro Four Thirds system vs Samsung NX
With the arrival of the Micro Four Thirds system, the solution seemed to be within reach. Panasonic turned out to be able to deliver the first Micro FourThirds system based camera; the Panasonic LUMIX G1. A camera that was warmly received proved to be an instant hit. Still the size of the camera body wasn't what you'd expect from a 'Micro' type.

Samsung camera : NX series
There are still opportunities for those brands that can come up with something smaller. All hopes were set on Olympus and what they had in the pipeline. During the last Photokina 2008 show, Olympus demonstrated a compact camera design concept. With this model, Samsung tries to steer hope in a certain direction. However, with the introduction of the Samsung NX camera, the game is not yet over.
