Pentax hybrid camera to be launched? : The German magazine Colorfoto has published an article about the new Olympus E-620 camera with a product shot that is certainly not an Olympus DSLR but appears to be a Pentax camera that could not be identified so far. This close to the PMA show, a continuous flood of speculations, one after the other, appears, and all we can do is wait and see what's going to happen. At this moment, all we know about the new Pentax camera is what we can decipher on its back. The camera lacks an optical viewfinder, but does sport an electronic viewfinder (EVF) and a large sized LCD monitor. This seems to indicate a large optical zoom range or a hybrid digital camera.

If the latter turns out to be true, Pentax may become the centre of attention. During last year's Photokina 2008 show, the Micro Four Thirds system was the hit of the show which enabled Panasonic to pocket the gain with the LUMIX G1. Since then, rumor never stopped as to how the opposition, brands like Nikon, Canon, Samsung, Pentax and others, will plan their counterattack. We can't imagine Panasonic and Olympus simply taking off with their new Micro FourThirds system. Our guess is that this picture contains a new hybrid digital Pentax camera!

It's all about the PMA 2009 show for the next few days. We will bring you updates about the new Pentax digital camera as they come available. Enjoy the show! UPDATE: It seems that Pentax is NOT showcasing a hybrid digital camera, but will update its camera line-up with a Megazoom camera.
