SamsungSamsung i8510 review at LetsGoMobile : A mobile phone and digital photography have become so intertwined over the past few years, that there's no possibility of ever separating them again. A camera simply belongs on a cell phone. It started several years ago with a simple VGA camera, after which it soon became possible to shoot high resolution pictures with a mobile phone. With the i8510, Samsung has the scoop here, since it is the first mobile phone on the European market that boasts an 8.0 Megapixel digital camera.

Samsung i8510 review - 8 Megapixel camera phone
It may be clear; being the first 8.0 Megapixel digital camera on a mobile phone for the European market is an important feature of the Samsung i8510. Upon activating the camera, the lens cover is automatically removed; this is very pleasant to work with and looks quite cool. Starting the camera application is quite fast. The entire screen is used as viewfinder and has a swift response. Even when you slide the phone to close it, the camera remains on, however, when still open, it is just a tad easier to hold it with two hands, preventing blurred pictures due to movements of the photographer's hand. Focusing takes quite a while as usual, however, the focus does turn out extremely accurate. Also in macro mode up close.

Samsung i8510 review - White balance & ISO sensitivities
The white balance of the Samsung i8510 shows nice results. The i8510 is quite effective when it comes to filtering out color cast in order to obtain a neutral exposure. In an environment with an overflow of incandescent light, it becomes more difficult and the effect of color cast will increase. One could call the increased ISO a marketing hype. Sensitivities up to and including 1600 ISO seem to appeal to the photographic orientated user, though, in practice, the quality leaves a lot to be desired. Up to ISO 200 the picture is reasonable, however from ISO 400 noise increases significantly and the image quality drops drastically.
