Olympus E30 Test photos : Last month, the Olympus E30 was officially introduced. The introduction came quite soon after having seen a pre-production model at the Photokina. The Olympus E-30 digital SLR camera is in fact an Olympus E-3 for the demanding amateur who does not need a housing suitable for heavy use and difficult circumstances. In addition, the camera features several interesting novelties on the creative side. The built-in Art filters replace the use for special lenses or filters, or editing the picture afterwards. The reproduction quality of the monitor found on the back of the camera has been improved and the screen has been slightly enlarged to 2.7-inch.

Not only the Olympus E-30 is delivered by Olympus, also a new lens; the 14-54mm f/2.8-f3.5 II lens. The large choice of image ratios is also new. No less than nine image ratios are offered, ranging from the standard 4:3 up to cinema ratio 16:9 and medium format 6:6. The improved contrast-AF stands out and makes Live View show to its full advantage. The new TruePic III+ image processer, combined with the latest 12.3 Megapixel Live MOS Sensor should put the Olympus E-30 a few steps higher on the quality ladder. Sufficient ingredients to want to test the new Olympus E-30 in practice.
Olympus E-30 Sample photos from Railway museum in Utrecht
A visit to the Railway museum in Utrecht, the Netherlands, means frequent use of high ISO values. I left the creative filters for what they are and instead focused more on exposure, focus, Live View and ISO performance. These actions are part of the preparations for the upcoming Olympus E30 review that will be published soon. With it, the technical test results from our DIWA Lab will also be revealed shortly from now.

The Olympus E30 sample photos were taken with a full production camera which means that this camera is equal to the model that the consumer can expect to purchase. Lenses that are used are the new ZUIKO Digital 14-54 mm f/2.8-3.5 II and the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 35-100 mm f/2.0. Our DIWA test lab has already fully tested the Olympus E30 digital SLR camera under laboratory circumstances from a technical viewpoint. The next few weeks we will test the E-30 DSLR in practice and come up with a review soon. The Olympus E-30 sample photos are taken in Utrecht, The Netherlands.
