SamsungSamsung Serenata review : The cooperation between Bang & Olufsen and Samsung has resulted in a hugely innovative music mobile phone, at which the unique vision on design and the advanced sound technology of Bang & Olufsen are combined with the ingenious mobile phone technology of Samsung. This makes the Samsung Serenata not only a mobile phone with an MP3 player, but also an MP3 Player with phone function. Samsung and Bang & Olufsen have combined the best of two worlds; the original design of the device makes you catch jealous eyes, and the sound of the extendable speaker will pleasantly surprise you.

When I first laid eyes on the Samsung Serenata, my initial reaction was: "Is this a mobile phone?" The device could be mistaken for an MP3 player and even for a radio alarm clock. In short; the Samsung F310's design is unique. The black and silver colored device features a nicely curved top side and measures 109.5 mm (height), 63 mm (width) and 19.7 mm (depth). On the front, the touchscreen is found with a navigation dial that is placed above the screen, much to my surprise. A small flap is found on the back that allows for placing the phone straight up.

Bang & Olufsen mobile sound quality
In spite of the exceptional operating system of the Samsung Serenata, dealing with the device is not complicated at all thanks to its intuitive user interface. The centre button of the navigation dial offers access to the menu and functions as confirmation button. The other four points of the dial indicated on the metal housing of the phone, serve as backspace, C-button and to answer or end a call. Turning the dial allows for scrolling through the menu or selecting the correct numbers or letters when calling or sending text messages. Furthermore, there are some quick access links on the touchscreen allowing access to three options of your own choice.

Naturally, the main function of the Samsung Serenata is the MP3 player in combination with a high quality speaker. Samsung and Bang & Olufsen did fulfil their promises; slide up the speaker, press 'Music' and get a nice surprise by the clear, powerful and impressive sound. It's hard to comprehend that this sound is produced by a cell phone. The navigation dial lets you adjust the volume at which a red circle appears that opens and closes depending on the volume's setting. The sound quality remains perfect, no matter what the volume is.
