Panasonic DMC-G1 camera at Photokina 2008 : In our opinion, the most elevating news of the Photokina 2008 came from Panasonic. The recently announced Micro FourThirds System, by Panasonic and Olympus, was followed by a massive presentation of the new Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 at the Photokina show. The LUMIX G1 caught your eye everywhere you looked in the ambitious Panasonic booth. And in exchange for your driver’s license, you were able to receive a working sample of the Panasonic G1 to get acquainted with the world's first Micro FourThirds System camera on the show floor. A spectacular show around the G1 put even more emphasis on Panasonic's new flagship that played its leading role with verve.

Panasonic G1 first Micro FourThirds System camera
The Panasonic G1 is a digital camera that has been developed by following a whole new concept that makes even better use of the compact size and lighter weight of the Four Thirds System standard. Panasonic secured the G1's potential for the future and the possibilities to enhance the camera by increasing the amount of electric contacts between the camera body and the lens, making the Panasonic LUMIX G1 perfectly suitable for new functions yet to be invented. Moreover; the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 not only accepts the Micro FourThirds System exchangeable lenses, current FourThird System lenses can also be used through an additional adaptor. So you can continue to use the FourThirds System lenses that are already in your possession.

Panasonic LUMIX digital compact cameras
Besides the Micro Four Thirds power, Panasonic showed the recently revamped LUMIX compact camera series with one of its showpieces; the LUMIX DMC-LX3. It is remarkable to see how an electronics manufacturer manages to stand out at an event aiming at photography. And that Panasonic is on the right track is proven by the ever increasing market share of the company. The LUMIX compact camera series stands for a carefully created series serving both the professional and amateur photographer alike. Keywords are wide angle and MEGA O.I.S. And with the introduction of the Micro FourThirds System, Panasonic have a new weapon to conquer a larger part of the market share. Panasonic even showed a prototype for next year; a system camera with HD capture possibility. As soon as a test sample of the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 becomes available, we will publish a DIWA standardized review. The Panasonic LUMIX G1 will be available in the shops in November of this year.
