MetzMetz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital receives EISA Award : The Metz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital has received one of the coveted EISA Awards: Experts from 50 different trade journals from 18 European countries awarded this sought-after prize for the powerful compact flash. The award for the “Best Product 2007-2008”, in the category Photography Accessories, was received by the innovative high performance device, which is the first flash in the world to be equipped with a USB port. The port can be used to conveniently update the specific firmware for each version of the model, via the computer and internet. Other highlights: Guide number 58 with ISO 100, high-performance energy management, second reflector, numerous special functions, swivelling flash head that illuminates the field viewing angle of a 18-mm lens with a wide-angle diffuser.

As the first high-performance compact flash with USB port, the mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital sets new standards. It has received numerous prizes, including the EISA Award, due to this popular PC interface that supports updates, for example via the internet. With to its high GN of 58 at ISO 100/21° and 105 mm focal length, the Metz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital is not only especially powerful but also can be used for indirect flash lighting to great effect. A flip-out wide-angle diffuser and a reflector card have been integrated into its vertically tilting and horizontally swivelling reflector. In addition, the “58-23 bounce diffuser” is available as an optional extra. Additional brilliance can be achieved for close-up shots with this flash technology via the integrated secondary reflector. The highly sophisticated reflector technology even supports partial lighting without special filters! The integrated slave trigger unit allows the 58 AF-1 to be used separately. By the way, thanks to the integrated wide-angle diffuser, this top-quality device can even be used for illuminating wide-angle focal lengths from 18 mm (35 mm format).

Of course, in addition to a wealth of other special functions, such as high-speed synchronization, the various versions of the Metz 58 AF-1 digital can make full use of the sophisticated flash technologies of the various leading camera makers. The Metz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital thus offers flash operation for Canon E-TTL and E-TTL II - for Nikon i-TTL and D-TTL - for Pentax/Samsung P-TTL, flash operation for Olympus/Panasonic TTL and ADI and TTL pre-flash operation for Sony Alpha cameras. Furthermore, the respective wireless TTL remote operation mode is naturally available for each camera model. The mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital can both be employed as a master and a slave device in this connection.

The Metz mecablitz 58 AF-1 digital can optionally be operated with one-way batteries or rechargeable batteries. In addition, the NiMH Power Pack P 76 is also available. In conjunction with the V 58-50 cable, this supports a significantly increased flash yield with a reduced flash recycle time.
