Samsung Galaxy S8 becomes best-selling Android phone : Boston-based Strategy Analytics published a new market report and which concluded that the Galaxy S8 has become the world's best-selling android smartphone in Q2 2017. According to the independent report from Strategy Analytics, Samsung Galaxy S8 was the world’s best-selling Android smartphone model in the second quarter of 2017. The premium flagship series together shipped an impressive 19 million units globally. Worldwide smartphone shipments reached a robust 360.4 million mobile devices in Q2 2017. The top-five most popular smartphone models together accounted for 1 in 6 of all smartphones shipped worldwide during the quarter.

Samsung maintained first position with 22 percent global smartphone market share, while Apple dipped to 11 percent share. Chinese smartphone vendor Xiaomi surged 58 percent annually and rejoined the top five rankings for the first time in a year. Global smartphone shipments grew a solid 6 percent annually from 341.5 million units in Q2 2016 to 360.4 million in Q2 2017.

Samsung Electronics recaptured first position with 23 percent global smartphone market share, while Apple dipped to 14 percent share. Global smartphone shipments grew a steady 6 percent annually from 333.1 million smartphones in Q1 2016 to 353.3 million in Q1 2017. The global smartphone market reached a bottom in the first quarter of 2016, when it fell 3 percent, but demand has picked back up and the growth outlook for this year is improving due to economic recovery and stronger consumer sentiment in major regions like China and Brazil.

Apple captured 16 percent global market share and became the world’s largest wearables vendor, overtaking Fitbit.
