Pentax KP digital camera features : After a thorough review of the camera's internal structure, Pentax designed a new body that was far more compact and slim than existing models to optimize the overall performance and operability. When combined with a compact Pentax DA lens, it can be carried comfortably and effortlessly for a wide range of applications, from casual snapshots to serious outdoor photography. The Pentax KP body is made of durable, lightweight magnesium alloy. With 67 sealing parts applied across the body, it provides a dustproof, weather-resistant structure, with outstanding cold-proof performance at temperatures down to -10°C. Thanks to these features, the Pentax KP performs superbly and dependably even in such demanding settings as in the rain or at locations prone to dust and freezing temperatures.

Pentax AA-filter simulator to minimize moiré and false colors : The new Pentax KP incorporates a new-generation, APS-C-size CMOS image sensor with approximately 24.32 effective megapixels to produce high-resolution pictures. It also features an optical design free of the optical AA (anti-aliasing) filter to optimize the image sensor’s outstanding imaging power. The result is sharp, fine-detailed pictures with a truthful sense of depth. By processing image data at a high readout speed of 14bit, it produces beautiful, rich-gradation photos. Pentax has devoted much of its effort to the downsizing of the camera body. By optimizing the design of internal components and mechanisms, it has succeeded in packaging exceptional imaging power, in the Pentax KP’s compact, slim body.
