Samsung image sensors for next-generation mobile devices : Samsung semiconductor introduces its own image sensor brand at the 2017 Mobile World Congress Shanghai. Samsung’s brand for its image sensor lineup is named after the company’s own ISOCELL technology, which is the best solution for today’s mobile devices that require ultra-slim designs with high quality digital cameras. First introduced in 2013, ISOCELL sensors separates each pixel with a physical barrier that reduces color crosstalk among pixels. This allows high color fidelity, enabling premium image quality even with smaller pixels. OmniVision image sensors for premium edgeless smartphones : OmniVision's brings advanced mobile imaging to next-generation premium smartphones. New image sensors offer optimized dual camera and better selfie capabilities for smartphones with edgeless displays. OmniVision announced the OV13A10 and OV13A1Q, a new family of 13-megapixel PureCel Plus-S stacked-die image sensors. Built on the companies second-generation PureCel Plus 1.0 micron pixel technology, the new camera sensors capture stunning images and bring a host of advanced capabilities such as high-resolution photography, super selfies, and 2x optical zoom to front- and rear-facing camera applications in mainstream smartphones. The OmniVision OV13A10 and OV13A1Q image sensors are currently available for sampling and are expected to enter volume production in Q4 2017.

MWC 2017: Samsung introduces premium Exynos 9 processor - Samsung Electronics semiconductor division announced the launch of its latest application processor (AP), the Exynos 9 Series 8895. This is Samsung’s first processor chipset to take advantage of the most advanced and industry leading 10-nanometer (nm) FinFET process technology with improved 3D transistor structure, which allows up to 27% higher performance while consuming 40% less power when compared to 14nm technology. The Samsung Exynos 9 Series (type: 8895) is the first processor of its kind to embed a gigabit LTE modem that supports five carrier aggregation, or 5CA. It delivers fast and stable data throughput at max.1Gbps (Cat.16) downlink with 5CA and 150Mbps (Cat.13) uplink with 2CA.

Panasonic Organic CMOS Image Sensor

Panasonic newly-developed image sensor technology : World's First Organic CMOS Image Sensor with Electrically Controllable Near-Infrared Light Sensitivity showcased at ISSCC 2017. Panasonic Corporation recently announced that it has developed a new technology, electrical control of the near infrared (NIR) light sensitivity of the same pixel in an organic CMOS image sensor. The sensitivity of all the pixels in the image sensor, which has directly stacked organic films, is simultaneously controlled by changing the applied voltage to the organic films. This technology enables to switch between modes of color imaging and NIR imaging frame by frame without a mechanical IR cut filter required for conventional image sensors. This contributes to miniaturizing a camera system and improving the robustness.
