Olympus OM-D firmware update

Mark Peters : 2015-07-28 18:50:00
Olympus OM-D firmware update : New firmware updates are now available for the Olympus OM-D E-M1 as well as the OM-D E-M5 Mark II. Owners of the Olympus E-M1 can look forward to more vivid starscapes thanks to Live View Boost II. New specialist settings add to the E-M1’s and the E-M5 Mark II’s already impressive underwater repertoire. The new firmware v 3.1 adds LV Boost II to the Olympus E-M1, which enhances the camera’s night vision capabilities. A decreased display frame rate enables a better control of even poorly lit subjects on the camera screen, making it easier to capture pin-sharp images of tiny bright points of light against dark backgrounds that are typical for beautiful starscapes.

These will resonate with more adventurous owners such as snowboarders and kite surfers, and especially with advanced divers with the confidence and qualifications to shoot at depths greater than 15 metres. The Olympus Tough accessories range from a Sport Holder for attaching the rugged compact camera to a harness and a variety of converter lenses to a Floating Handstrap, underwater LED Light Guide and a housing that is waterproof down to 45 metres.

Olympus Stylus Tough TG-4

Mark Peters : 2015-04-19 11:05:00
Olympus Tough TG-4 adventure camera : Olympus introduces the Stylus Tough TG-4 digital camera. It’s not only extreme sports fans who appreciate rugged cameras and the new Olympus Tough TG-4 flagship will resonate with anyone who spends a lot of time outdoors and wants to capture their experiences in excellent quality, in any environment, without worrying about the light or the state of equipment. The Olympus Tough TG-4 is a powerful all-rounder but its most impressive single feature is the super-bright 25-100mm lens with a 1:2.0 maximum aperture at wide zoom settings. This allows it to capture spectacular, colourful, low-noise shots in light-starved environments where fast shutter speeds and low ISO settings are indispensable.

Olympus Stylus 1s

Mark Peters : 2015-04-19 10:25:00
Olympus Stylus 1s compact camera : Olympus has given its red dot award-winning compact flagship added appeal with a lens and design upgrade that makes it more powerful, easier to use, easier to hold, and more stylish. The Olympus 1s comes with the latest Stylus 1 firmware, which adds compatibility with wide-angle to deliver greater focal range with constant brightness, starting with the impressive wide-angle potential of 22.4mm and extending right up to 510mm telephoto shots. Like its predecessor, the Olympus Stylus 1s digital camera feels great in your hand. However, new textures make it easier and more pleasant to hold and there’s an even more solid quality to the slim, all-metal casing.

Olympus Stylus SH-2

Mark Peters : 2015-03-11 10:40:00
Olympus Stylus SH-2 digital compact camera : Olympus is proud to introduce the successor model in the Stylus SH line of digital cameras, the Stylus SH-2, featuring a 24x wide-angle optical zoom lens, built-in Wi-Fi connectivity for remote shooting and sharing with a smart device, RAW capture capability, and 5-Axis Image Stabilization that supports both still image and video capture. The Stylus camera also adds new Nightscape Modes for stunning night scenes and portraits. The Stylus SH-2 reflects the premium aesthetic of the renowned Olympus PEN series of cameras. The SH-2’s top panel and main controls are constructed of aluminum alloy, with superior craftsmanship that is reflected in every detail of the camera, including the lens barrel, dials, and front and rear grips.

Olympus M.Zuiko Pro lenses

Mark Peters : 2015-02-23 14:50:00
Olympus M.Zuiko optics for Micro Four Thirds cameras : 2015 sees the addition of a fifth lens to Olympus’ M.Zuiko Pro range, which combines genuine professional performance with the compact and lightweight design of Micro Four Thirds cameras. The bright M.Zuiko Digital ED 8mm Fisheye 1:1.8 PRO will sit alongside another PRO lens due to go on sale this year - a wide-angle zoom - and a fixed-focal length super-telephoto lens, which is also under development. Olympus’ elite PRO series currently offers two lenses. The 12-40mm 1:2.8 model marked the series’ spectacular debut when it was voted Best Compact System Zoom Lens in 2014 by EISA. That success was followed by the launch of the first telephoto zoom lens in the M.Zuiko Pro series, in autumn 2014.

Olympus Tough TG-860

Mark Peters : 2015-02-14 09:50:00
Olympus Stylus Tough TG-860 all-weather digital camera : True to the Tough name, the new TG-860 from Olympus cruised through lab tests that saw it dropped, frozen, squashed and submerged. Seals remained sealed, rivets remained riveted, pictures remained picture perfect. The Olympus TG-860 passed image-quality tests with flying colours. Most important of all, it sustained this quality with super wide-angle close-ups - thanks to the widest wide-angle lens available in the compact outdoor camera class. The 21-105mm 5x optical zoom lens makes it easy to capture the whole scene, especially with group selfies. Lesser lenses often exclude an ear, arm or even a whole person, and picture quality may deteriorate at wide-angle settings.
