Forecast for Holiday Consumer Electronics purchases

2014 Consumer Electronics purchases : IHS, a leading global source of critical information and insight, announced that seven out of 10 U.S. consumers (68 percent) plan to buy consumer electronics (CE) during the 2014 holiday season. According to the 'U.S. Holiday CE Consumer Survey,' more than one third of respondents (37 percent) plan to make at least one electronics purchase on Black Friday, 32 percent plan to purchase online during Cyber Monday, and 50 percent expect to buy electronics some other time in November or December. "While the fourth quarter is always the most dynamic in terms of sales, mostly due to holiday spending, this year consumer confidence is very high," said Veronica Gonzalez-Thayer, senior analyst for consumer electronics at IHS Technology.

Patent License agreement between LG and Google

LG and Google sign global patent license agreement : LG Electronics and Google have entered into a long-term patent cross-licensing agreement covering a broad range of products and technologies. The agreement covers the two companies’ existing patents as well as those filed over the next 10 years. “We’re pleased to enter into this agreement with a leading global technology company like LG,” said Allen Lo, deputy general counsel for patents at Google. “By working together on cross-licenses like this, companies can focus on bringing great products and services to consumers around the world.” This agreement builds on the long-standing strong alliance between Google and LG Electronics, the companies said.

After completing ten Memoranda of Agreements (MOAs), the government added the Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy S5, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy Note 4, Galaxy Note 10.1, Galaxy Note Edge, Galaxy Alpha, Galaxy Tab S 8.4, Galaxy Tab S 10.5 and the Galaxy IPSEC Virtual Private Network (VPN) Client to the Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) Program Component List. Samsung’s entry onto the Commercial Solutions for Classified Program Components List proves that Samsung devices and KNOX meet the stringent security standards.
