8 Megapixel image sensors from Aptina

Mark Peters : 2012-12-22 11:00:00
Aptina intros 8 Megapixel image sensors : The Aptina AR0835 image sensor meets the accelerating demand within the smartphone market, and the Aptina AR0835HS image sensor takes on the challenging sports camera markets for very fast, high performing digital cameras with still and video capabilities. The new high-speed Aptina image sensors enable the full-width 16:9 HD video window to be readout at 60fps without pixel binning or cropping the field-of-view. This 6 megapixel data stream oversamples the target image by 3x resulting in video as sharp as that of the high-end multi-sensor video cameras used in television studios. In addition, camera manufacturers can take advantage of this speed to enable the capture of 6 megapixel images without interrupting the video stream and with zero shutter lag.

Ralf Jurrien : 2012-10-28 18:50:00
18 Megapixel BSI sensor from Aptina : Aptina announced the AR1820HS 18 megapixel digital camera sensor. The new sensor targets high-end compact digital cameras as well as high-end consumer DV applications. The AR1820HS delivers stunning 18 megapixel high resolution images with a new high-performance 1.25-micron backside illuminated (BSI) pixel, fitting in the 1/2.3-inch mainstream DSC optical format. The AR1820HS utilizes Aptina A-PixHSTM technology, which brings Aptina’s BSI sensor pixel technology together with advanced high-speed sensor architecture to enable a new class of high performance cameras. A-PixHS technology provides high quantum efficiency, low noise, and low power consumption.
