Panasonic Smartphone goes on sale in Europe

Panasonic to expand smartphone business to Europe : Panasonic has announced today that it will expand its smartphone business to the European market in March 2012. At the same time, it announced its aim to bring its overseas smartphone sales to nine million units in fiscal year 2016, ending March 31, 2016, using Europe as a stepping stone to the global market. With the mobile phone market rapidly shifting to smartphone usage worldwide and a steady growth expected particularly overseas, Panasonic aims to tap into this growth with its first global model smartphone for the European market in March 2012.

The Panasonic Lumix 3D digital camera will enable users to take 3D photos and 3D HD video clips and is planned to be released end of 2011. The camera’s compact size was achieved by employing two newly developed 4x zoom lenses with thin, folded optics. The advantages of the twin-lens design are further utilized to snap stunning, full-pixel 2D photos while shooting 2D videos at the same time. The new Panasonic 3D digital camera captures 3D HD videos in the AVCHD format using the side-by-side method.

Panasonic firmware update for Lumix DMC-LX5 digital camera : A new firmware version will be released for the Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX5 compact digital camera. The firmware, version 2.0, improves the camera’s performance and upgrades various functions while enhancing the usability. A redesigned algorithm makes it possible to speed up the AF time by reducing it by approx. 23% at the wide-end, which is the fastest level of speed in class. A High ISO NR (Noise Reduction) mode is newly added to offer noise reduction specifically to the images shot at high ISO 1600/3200 sensitivity. The performance of auto white balance adjustment is improved in low light situations.
