Sony NEX review

Dennis Hissink : 2010-05-31 00:10:00
Sony NEX-5 system camera review : Following Panasonic, Olympus and Samsung, Sony has also joined the road of the small system cameras. The interest in such compact camera systems is big, but strangely enough, the answer to this success was a long time coming by big names such as Canon, Nikon and Sony. We had to wait until the start of this year, when Sony showed the press a prototype camera, and then we knew that also Sony had joined the party. The expectations of what Sony was to produce were also big; in any case, it had to make us forget about the previous small camera systems.

Sony CyberShot review

Mark Peters : 2010-05-17 18:20:00
Sony CyberShot DSC-HX5 photo gallery : The Sony CyberShot HX5 is a small digital camera equipped with the newest technologies that the current Sony Cybershot generation cameras have. The Sony CyberShot DSC-HX5 is equipped with GPS and compass functionality, a feature that we strangely enough see only rarely in a digital camera. This is already a standard specification in modern smartphones, but digital SLR and compact cameras have yet to discover GPS. There are some glitches to it, such as interference in the LCD display and the image sensor, and those are components that you obviously really need. Sony has managed to avoid these impediments, making the Sony Cybershot DSC-HX5 digital camera pretty unique.

Sony A290

Dennis Hissink : 2010-05-16 17:17:17
Sony A290 digital SLR camera : Just after the global launch of the new Sony NEX cameras rumors float around talking about a new entry-level Sony Alpha DSLR camera. Although the following information is not official yet, product photos and detailed specifications are accurate enough to expect the information to be true. The new Sony Alpha 290 is likely to be introduced in the following weeks and seems to be a follow-up of the Alpha A230 camera. The Sony DSLR-A290 supposes to have an APS-C 14 Megapixels CCD image sensor on board with a fast BIONZ image processor. For enhanced detail reproduction, Sony’s BIONZ Image Processing Engine infuses a sense of vibrant realism in every shot taken by an Alpha DSLR.

Sony NEX review

Dennis Hissink : 2010-05-12 10:15:00
Sony NEX-5 test photos live from Croatia : After the global launch of the new Sony NEX system cameras, we are, of course, curious about the actual results. We went out with a Sony NEX-5 in the beautiful surroundings of the seaport Split and Trogir, Croatia. The Sony NEX-5 is a 14.2 Megapixel system camera, Sony’s first camera without a mirror. In fact, Sony is following the path that was first laid out by Panasonic and Olympus with their Micro Four Thirds System. The traditional digital SLR camera always has quite large dimensions, especially in comparison with compact cameras. The Sony NEX-5 is a hybrid camera, combining the compact dimensions of a compact camera with the quality of a DSLR.

Sony NEX-5 review

Dennis Hissink : 2010-05-12 10:10:00
Sony NEX-5 review : Since the introduction of the Micro Four Thirds System, changes have been taking place on the DSLR market. A couple of manufacturers, Olympus and Panasonic, have set out a new course, which has obviously become a hit with the consumers. There is a lot of enthusiasm for Micro Four Thirds, causing others to also assign their R&D department to create a similar concept. Including Sony, who has been making headway since 2006 with their Alpha DSLR system, also sees a future in the small format system camera. During the European launch in Croatia, we were witness to Sony’s answer to the Micro Four Thirds System. The introduction of the Sony NEX-5 and Sony NEX-3 Alpha is now a fact.

Sony PlayStation phone

Mark Peters : 2010-04-01 16:40:16
Sony PlayStation mobile phone : It won’t have escaped anyone’s attention that manufacturers such as Apple have a lot of success with their innovative consumer electronics. The mega success of the Apple iPhone and the unprecedented popular Apps, iTunes and the popularity of paid (!) music, video and podcast downloads, has left a mark on the global entertainment market. And it seems that we can expect more upheaval from Apple this year. The most recent Apple announcement was the iPad, a so-called tablet that is being phased in world-wide. These developments are in any case for Sony a clear signal to get into action. For example, there is talk of a PlayStation Smartphone!

Sony system camera

Ilse Jurriën : 2010-01-30 00:00:00
Sony digital system camera : Rumors about an imminent new Sony camera are getting stronger by the day. The success of the Micro Four Thirds System cameras has finally sunk in with Sony, however, it seems lips are completely sealed, and not one word is being said about system cameras at all. A known fact is that everybody is waiting for a video function to be integrated in the Sony Alpha DSLRs. The unofficial reason for the lack of this type of video function up to now is the fact that Sony finds the performance not up to par, and is not satisfied with current technologies. Whether this will lead to the expected Sony system camera, remains to be seen, although several sources are indirectly pointing in that direction.
