Panasonic lens review

Dennis Hissink : 2010-07-16 14:50:00
Panasonic 7-14mm lens review : At the start of 2009, Panasonic introduced a wide angle zoom lens for its Micro Four Thirds System: the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm / F4.0 ASPH. Photographers immediately recognized the potential that this Panasonic zoom lens has: it is very compact, clearly lighter weight while maintaining a constant maximum aperture of f/4. The advantage of a so-called short flange back is included in the design of the Panasonic lens, resulting in a very compact ultra wide angle zoom lens. Because the Panasonic 7-14 mm lens has a very wide angle of view (114˚), it is easier to capture subjects when space is limited. We used the new Panasonic Lumix G2 in order to test the lens thoroughly.

Panasonic 8mm Fisheye lens : Panasonic unveiled a new interchangeable lens LUMIX G FISHEYE 8mm / F3.5 (35 mm camera equivalent: 16 mm) for the New-Generation System Cameras LUMIX G Micro System. The new LUMIX G FISHEYE 8mm / F3.5 lens offers a diagonal angle of view of 180-degree, bringing an distinctive perspective and unique deformation effect. It gives not only photos but also movies an extraordinary view to add an impressive scene to the story even for TV contents, films and web movies. The closest focusing distance is as short as 0.1m, however, the LUMIX G FISHEYE 8mm / F3.5 incorporates inner focus system which enables a long working distance and users do not have to come closer to the subject even for the close-up shots.

Ilse Jurriën : 2010-03-07 10:00:00
Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. : Panasonic is pleased to announce a new standard zoom interchangeable lens for Lumix G Micro System that complies with Micro Four Thirds System standard. Featuring the high mobility thanks to the ultra-compact size and light weight, the new Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens offers a versatile zoom range of 14-42mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-84mm) suitable for a wide range of scenes from dynamic landscape to portrait. The lens system features excellent contrast at entire zoom range and the inclusion of an aspherical lens improves optical performance by minimizing distortion, even at the 28mm wide end. Adopting an inner focus system driven by a stepping motor, the superior optical design realizes outstanding smoothness to support the high speed AF system of Lumix G cameras.

Prototype Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm lens : In the Panasonic booth, we ran into a number of prototype Lumix lenses. These Micro Four Thirds lenses have not yet officially been launched, however, they are expected to be released mid April 2010. This means that the line of Panasonic Lumix lenses extends rapidly, through which Panasonic keeps its promise to make the Panasonic system cameras into a mature line. The first prototype Lumix lens is the Panasonic Lumix G Vario f/4.0-5.6 100-300 mm, a zoom lens with integrated Mega OIS stabilization. Also a lens with a large range, compared to 35mm, it provides a stunning 200-600 mm. Undoubtedly an eagerly awaited zoom lens.
