Global personal navigation

Dennis Hissink : 2010-04-01 16:22:16
Forecast global personal navigation market : Global personal navigation device shipments to stagnate at 48 Million by 2015, says ABI Research. Growth in Personal Navigation Device (PND) shipments will continue to slow, stagnating at 48 million by 2015. The Asia-Pacific market will experience the strongest growth with more than 10 million shipments in 2015. “PND shipments continue to suffer from competing navigation form factors,” says ABI Research practice director Dominique Bonte. “While the free navigation solutions from both Nokia and Google firmly establish handset-based turn-by-turn navigation as a standard feature, in-dash navigation is also becoming affordable for a larger portion of car buyers.”

Motorola car navigation : Not only Motorola smartphones of the newest Motorola Android cell phones were shown during the CES, but also Motorola navigation was present. It seems as if Motorola has all the wind in its sails and is launching one product after the other, and receiving a mostly positive response. Internally, it was necessary for Motorola to reorganize, as they have thrown all the old dead weight overboard and with a fresh wind, a little help from Google’s Android, we are now seeing a different Motorola from the years before. Innovative, fast and driven by an open source, 2010 promises to be an interesting year for Motorola. The Motorola Motonav TN700 is such a new navigation product.
