Sigma 8-16mm lens

Ilse Jurriën : 2010-02-21 15:32:00
Sigma 8-16mm HSM lens : The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma 8-16mm F4.5-5.6 DC HSM lens. This is the first ultra wide zoom lens with a minimum focal length of 8mm, designed specifically for APS-C size image sensors. The new Sigma 8-16mm lens has an equivalent angle of view of a 12-24mm lens when used on digital cameras with an APS-C size image sensor. The wide-angle of view from 121.2 degrees produces striking images with exaggerated perspective, enabling photographers to emphasize the subject. Four FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass elements, which have the performance equal to fluorite glass, compensate for color aberration. One hybrid aspherical lens and two glass mold elements give excellent correction for distortion and astigmatism.

Sigma optical glass FLD : The Sigma Corporation (COO: Kazuto Yamaki, Kawasaki-Shi, Kanagawa) is pleased to announce that FLD (“F” Low Dispersion) glass, which has a performance equal to fluorite glass, has been adopted and used in our new high performance lenses. FLD glass is the highest level low dispersion glass available with extremely high light transmission. This optical glass has a performance equal to fluorite glass which has a low refractive index and low dispersion compared to current optical glass. It also benefits from high anomalous dispersion. Using these characteristics gives excellent correction for residual chromatic aberration (secondary spectrum) which cannot be corrected by ordinary optical glass and ensures high definition and high contrast images.

Nikon AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm lens : Nikon Europe announces the AF-S Nikkor 16-35mm F4G ED VR, the world’s first ultra-wide angle zoom lens with VR for FX-format cameras. The new lens offers an affordable and practical proposition for general photography with FX-format cameras such as the D700. The Nikon AF-S Nikkor 16-35MM F4G ED VR is the world’s first ultra-wide angle zoom lens to feature Vibration Reduction technology, providing the ability to shoot at shutter speeds up to four stops slower. The application of VR complements the f/4 maximum aperture when shooting in low light. The Nikon 16-35mm lens is scheduled to go on sale on February 19, 2010.

Prototype Panasonic Lumix 100-300mm lens : In the Panasonic booth, we ran into a number of prototype Lumix lenses. These Micro Four Thirds lenses have not yet officially been launched, however, they are expected to be released mid April 2010. This means that the line of Panasonic Lumix lenses extends rapidly, through which Panasonic keeps its promise to make the Panasonic system cameras into a mature line. The first prototype Lumix lens is the Panasonic Lumix G Vario f/4.0-5.6 100-300 mm, a zoom lens with integrated Mega OIS stabilization. Also a lens with a large range, compared to 35mm, it provides a stunning 200-600 mm. Undoubtedly an eagerly awaited zoom lens.
