Olympus PEN system camera review : It's not an SLR camera, not a compact, but a PEN. This is the name Olympus gave their latest camera model, the E-P1. And it might just be the most discussed camera lately. During the Photokina 2008, the Micro Four Thirds camera from Olympus was already a hot topic. The mock-up that was showcased reminded of earlier times, some fifty years ago. It resembled a PEN, and everyone hoped that the camera would indeed turn out to look that way. This hope was fulfilled; as Olympus, contrary to Panasonic, opted for a unique design for the Micro Four Thirds System.• Read our full Olympus PEN camera review.

Canon PowerShot A2100 IS test : Because of its predecessor, the A2000IS, the fate of the Canon PowerShot A2100IS digital camera had already been sealed: it would no longer provide the A/S mode (Aperture/Shutter priority) for the creative hobby photographer. An enhanced automation took its place, which is perhaps more suitable for the target group the PowerShot A-series aims at. The Canon PowerShot A2100 IS digital camera went one step higher up the Megapixel ladder, now featuring a 12 Megapixel CCD image sensor.• Read our full Canon review.

Pentax K-7 picture gallery : During my stay in Las Vegas, where I attended the PMA 2009 Imaging Convention and Trade show, there was already talk behind closed doors of a shortly expected Pentax digital SLR camera. The first information we gathered sounded promising, yet it was too early (February 2009) to reveal the news. Internet rumors kept growing however, and three months later, the Pentax K-7 DSLR was finally officially introduced. A DSLR camera from the middle-segment, yet a camera with refined features. The Pentax K7 is a typical SLR for the demanding user. The wealth of advanced functions and user-friendly features in a high- quality housing make the Pentax K-7 a high-end model from the Pentax K-series DSLR cameras.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 test photos : Shortly after attending a press conference held by Panasonic in Lisbon, we were given the opportunity to shoot with a pre-production model of the Panasonic Lumix FZ38. Since several picture/city tours were planned, it was obvious we would try out the Panasonic FZ38 camera. The Panasonic Lumix FZ38 is quite similar to its predecessor, the FZ28, yet has undergone several enhancements. In fact, this new generation Panasonic Lumix Megazoom camera is equipped with an improved Power O.I.S. stabilizer and the option to capture videos in HD resolution. The optical zoom range has not been increased; Panasonic seems to make a conscious choice for quality with the new Panasonic Lumix FZ38 megazoom camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 test photos : After attending a press conference in Lisbon, Portugal, I was given the opportunity to shoot with the new Panasonic Lumix ZX1 Megazoom camera. Although the model's status is not yet final, the sample photos in this article give a good impression of what we can expect from the new Panasonic ZX1 camera. The Panasonic Lumix ZX1 is a remarkably slim and compactly designed digital camera featuring a large optical zoom. The newly developed lens unit includes the world’s first 0.3mm super-thin aspherical lens and the industry’s first 0.3mm spherical lens. This innovative lens technique realizes to fit the high performance 8x optical zoom lens into the slim and compact body of the Panasonic ZX1 camera.

Ricoh camera review : CX1 photo gallery : Ricoh enjoys a well-known reputation as an innovative camera manufacturer. And although Ricoh is a small player in the field of compact cameras where heavyweights like Canon, Panasonic and Sony seem to rule, Ricoh still manages to keep its brand in the limelight by introducing inventive image solutions time and time again. This also goes for the Ricoh CX1, a digital camera with a 7.1x wide angle zoom lens (28-200mm) and an incredibly large dynamic range of 12 EV. Additionally, the Ricoh CX1 features a fast CMOS sensor, and the camera is supported by a new Smooth Imagine Engine IV image processor. The Ricoh camera has a number of remarkable functions to offer the creative photographer.

Samsung WB500 camera review : When it comes to the specifications of the WB500, it really does grab the attention, being the world's first camera with a zoom range of 24mm and a total range of 24-240mm (10x), although Panasonic is rapidly catching up on the WB500 with the LUMIX TZ7, 25-300mm (12x). Never-theless, Samsung currently holds the top position in the field of wide angle zoom. Additionally, the Samsung WB500 provides 720p HD video and 10 MP resolution. The automation development increases with every generation, the WB500 is able to retouch a face entirely automatically. • Read our full Samsung WB500 review.

Olympus E-P1 SLR camera review : It is only very rarely that I come across something that I believe will become of great importance. It is exactly this feeling that turns a cold view on technique into pure and raw emotion. And if this feeling continues, it will soon turn into daydreaming. In my case, that means dreaming about shooting my immediate surroundings with my camera to try and capture my reality in that one meaningful picture. The new Olympus addition, the E-P1, means pure emotion to me. Back to reality; the Olympus E-P1 is the long-awaited Micro Four Thirds system camera. A mock-up version was introduced during the Photokina 2008 for the first time, and now, the Olympus E-P1 has finally become reality.
