Panasonic review : DMC-GF1

Dennis Hissink : 2009-11-30 00:20:00
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 review : Micro Four Thirds is booming. Manufacturers like Panasonic regularly announce new products and accessories for the unique DSLR-alternative; the Micro Four Thirds System. At the time the system was first announced, expectations certainly ran high with regards to design and dimensions, but when we first saw the Panasonic Lumix G1, we were admittedly somewhat disappointed. Not so much because of the system, but rather because the similarity to the traditional digital SLR was still too strong. It turned out to be just a matter of time ...

Panasonic DMC-GF1 preview

Dennis Hissink : 2009-09-02 17:44:00
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 preview : Besides Olympus, it is also Panasonic that focuses on the development of the Micro Four Thirds System. The Lumix G-generation consists of the world's first Micro Four Thirds camera, the G1, followed by the GH1, which incorporates a video function. The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GF1 is a new addition to the Lumix G Micro System, and aims mainly at the advanced photographer. The entirely new design, far more compact and as well as more lightweight than before, ensures the GF1 really distinguishes itself from the masses. Weighing in at a mere 285 grams (body only), makes the Panasonic Lumix GF1 the world's lightest Micro Four Thirds camera so far. With this concept, Panasonic serves a large group of photographers primarily looking for a compact and light equivalent of their heavy (semi-) pro DSLR camera.

Panasonic GH1 review

Dennis Hissink : 2009-08-26 19:43:00
Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 review : During the Photokina 2008 where visitors were able to meet the G1 for the first time, the attentive camera enthusiast could already sneak in a first glimpse of the GH1. A prototype was taking cover in the back of the booth. Due to the visible built-in stereo microphone, it soon became clear that we could expect something truly special from this type of Panasonic Micro Four Thirds system camera. Six months later, the Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH1 was officially announced and became the world's first system camera with High Definition video and continuous AF support.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ38 test photos : Shortly after attending a press conference held by Panasonic in Lisbon, we were given the opportunity to shoot with a pre-production model of the Panasonic Lumix FZ38. Since several picture/city tours were planned, it was obvious we would try out the Panasonic FZ38 camera. The Panasonic Lumix FZ38 is quite similar to its predecessor, the FZ28, yet has undergone several enhancements. In fact, this new generation Panasonic Lumix Megazoom camera is equipped with an improved Power O.I.S. stabilizer and the option to capture videos in HD resolution. The optical zoom range has not been increased; Panasonic seems to make a conscious choice for quality with the new Panasonic Lumix FZ38 megazoom camera.

Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZX1 test photos : After attending a press conference in Lisbon, Portugal, I was given the opportunity to shoot with the new Panasonic Lumix ZX1 Megazoom camera. Although the model's status is not yet final, the sample photos in this article give a good impression of what we can expect from the new Panasonic ZX1 camera. The Panasonic Lumix ZX1 is a remarkably slim and compactly designed digital camera featuring a large optical zoom. The newly developed lens unit includes the world’s first 0.3mm super-thin aspherical lens and the industry’s first 0.3mm spherical lens. This innovative lens technique realizes to fit the high performance 8x optical zoom lens into the slim and compact body of the Panasonic ZX1 camera.

Panasonic TZ7 review

Dennis Hissink : 2009-05-04 16:45:00
Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7 digital camera review : As a successor to the successful LUMIX DMC-TZ5, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ was launched. It is quite striking to see that the competitors have allowed Panasonic to continue expanding the success of the compact format megazoom camera for such a long time. Why its rivals did not respond for so long remains unknown, however, Panasonic certainly reaped the rewards! The new Panasonic LUMIX TZ7 has not changed much when it comes to the concept. The largest change is found on the lens.

Panasonic Lumix GH1 preview

Dennis Hissink : 2009-03-05 00:28:00
Panasonic Lumix GH1 SLR preview : The arrival of a new GH1 of Panasonic did not exactly come as a surprise, while at the Photokina 2008 we already saw an early prototype of the Panasonic GH1 showcased behind glass Panasonic's press event. The introduction of the Micro Four Thirds system, in cooperation with Olympus, was a good start for Panasonic. In 2008, the Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G1 was awarded with the DIWA Gold Award for overall quality and the highly appreciated LUMIX G Vario 14-45mm kit lens. The official introduction of the Panasonic LUMIX GH1 is now a fact, and certainly creates high expectations. The Panasonic GH1 will take video capture with a DSLR to a different level.

Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7 test photos : During a Panasonic press event, held in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, I was given the opportunity to use the new Panasonic LUMIX DMC-TZ7. The Panasonic LUMIX TZ7 is Panasonic's flagship of the new assortment LUMIX digital cameras for the upcoming season. It is the successor to the TZ5 and Panasonic's hope to continue the successful Travel Zoom series. The specifications aren't bad at all upon first glance. Whereas the TZ5 distinguished itself by featuring a 10x optical zoom in a compact housing, the Panasonic TZ7 even surpasses this with a 12x zoom! This is enough to reach a range of 25-300mm (35mm equivalent) without any effect on the compact size.
