Olympus E-620 review

Dennis Hissink : 2009-06-13 00:15:00
Olympus E-620 review : At the time of the Olympus E-620 introduction, it was not yet clear that this would in fact be the only new digital SLR during the PMA show. Whether or not this signifies something is yet to be discovered, although it certainly is remarkable. The Olympus E-620 looks a lot like the semi-professional Olympus E-30, which was introduced in last year's Q4. However, it is by no means merely a simple copy; saying that would really disqualify the Olympus E620. The camera's interior is newly developed, maintaining the functionalities of its big brother, the E30.

Olympus E-450 test photos

Olympus E-450 photo gallery : Succeeding the introduction of the Olympus E-620, the new FourThirds DSLR entry level camera is launched. Olympus is working at full speed, and thanks to the availability of the new Olympus E-450, the assortment has grown into a beautiful series of digital SLR cameras. The Olympus E-450 is the most compact DSLR model of the Olympus stable, and is a serious contender for the title: "Most compact DSLR in the world". Despite Olympus targeting the low-end of the SLR market, the Olympus E-450 still features a wealth of handy functions. A good example is the Supersonic Wave Filter, designed by Olympus, which is an anti-dust system that effectively deals with the damaging results of dust.

Olympus SP-590 UZ photo gallery : Olympus started the year bubbling with enthusiasm. In the first few weeks of January, a whole new range of compact cameras was introduced, among which is the new Olympus Megazoom: the Olympus SP-590 UZ. The Olympus Ultra Zoom cameras have been around for a few generations now, and there is always another striking feature justifying the launch of a new camera. The large zoom range is the most outstanding feature on the new Olympus SP-590. It's a lens with no less than 26x zoom, equivalent to a range of 26-676 mm. This is unsurpassed and a new record for optical zoom range. This type of range is one of the main features of a Megazoom camera. The segment is under pressure when it comes to sales prices.

Olympus E-450

Olympus E-450 SLR camera : With the Olympus E-450, the superior quality of E-System D-SLRs and ease-of-use of compact cameras are fused in a model that brings out the artist in anyone. Indeed, the successor to the renowned E-420 is packed with features that encourage novices to explore their creative potential and create masterpieces. Three in-camera Art Filters, for example, apply stylish effects to any image at the touch of a button. Meanwhile, image composition is simplified thanks to Live View depictions on the bright LCD. This latest addition to the Olympus E-System range is not only one of the smallest and lightest models on the market, it also boasts all the benefits of the Four Thirds Standard at an affordable price.

New Olympus cameras at PMA

Dennis Hissink : 2009-03-09 02:06:00
New Olympus digital cameras at PMA Show in Las Vegas : The Olympus booth at the PMA 2009 show is quite well-arranged and provides a lot of space to give a complete camera overview. Striking is the fact that the Olympus E-620 is actually the only real new digital SLR camera of the entire show, which is of course very nice for Olympus. As a result, there was even more interest in the compact E-620. I myself had the opportunity to make several sample pictures in between my busy schedule, on the Strip in Las Vegas. And the first impression of this camera is a good one. It's compact and has features that are directly copied from the semiprofessional E-30 which makes it so pleasant to shoot with it.

Olympus E-3 camera joins Space Shuttle flight

Mark Peters : 2009-03-07 00:30:00
Olympus E-3 celebrates space project : To celebrate ninety years of operation, Olympus is giving itself a gift: the Olympus Space Project. For this occasion, Dr Koichi Wakata, a Japanese Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA) astronaut, will use the reliable Olympus E-3 D-SLR and ZUIKO DIGITAL lenses to snap the Earth from outer space. Pictures taken from the Kibo, the Japanese experimental module within the International Space Station (ISS), will then be posted on Olympus’ web sites and shown at photo exhibitions. Such amazing pictures of our blue planet are a testament to the value that Olympus places on the environment. The Space Shuttle Discovery which will carry Dr Wakata and his Olympus E-3 to the ISS is scheduled to launch soon.

Micro FourThirds camera system

Mark Peters : 2009-03-07 00:28:00
Micro Four Thirds camera system showcased at PMA Show : During last year’s Photokina 2008 in Germany, the Micro FourThirds system was jointly introduced by Olympus and Panasonic. And although Panasonic pocketed the gain during the Photokina by introducing the Panasonic LUMIX G1 digital camera, Olympus was not forgotten, and curiosity about the plans of Olympus with this system stayed on. At the opening, Olympus showed a Micro FourThirds design concept to the international press, and afterwards to the public, with the announcement that this kind of concept belongs to the possibilities, but that it does not necessarily equal the end-product.

Olympus E-620 Las Vegas photo gallery

Dennis Hissink : 2009-03-04 01:10:00
Olympus E-620 Las Vegas photo gallery : We've managed to get hold of the first full production Olympus E-620 DSLR camera, and we have made several sample pictures on the famous Strip in Las Vegas. The Olympus E-620 is currently the world's smallest and most light-weight DSLR with built-in image stabilization. However; it's not only the weight that makes the E620 stand out from the crowd. The camera uses techniques of the semi-professional Olympus E-30, lifting the bar for quality again. In addition to the Live MOS sensor with 12.3 Megapixels, the Olympus E620 features a handy vari-angle LCD display that can be folded in and out, which is ideal when you want to take pictures from an awkward angle. Live View provides the extra ease.
