Sony Alpha lenses

Ilse Jurriën : 2009-03-07 00:26:00
Sony Alpha lenses at PMA 2009 : During the PMA, Sony Japan announced several new lenses; that is to say, they have announced the developments. It strikes us that hardly any announcements, if even any at all, were made about the Sony Alpha system during PMA 2009. A large showcase received a prominent place, showcasing the available lenses for the Alpha. Among them, we find the new concept lenses, which were announced rather inconspicuously by Sony Japan during the past week. It is not even likely that these concept models will actually appear on the market as Sony lenses. It's more about showing the possibilities of the Alpha system.

Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/21 lens for SLR cameras : The legendary Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/21 is now being introduced for SLR cameras with EF, F and K bayonets. Thanks to its excellent performance, this modernized version from the former Contax system sets new standards in this focal length class. "The outstanding correction of chromatic aberration enables photos without color fringes even in high-contrast light conditions", says Martin Klottig, Marketing Manager, Carl Zeiss Camera Lens Division. "Even at full aperture, the floating element design ensures optimum edge-to-edge image quality over the entire focusing range. And even in difficult light conditions, the new Zeiss Distagon provides excellent results thanks to its T* coating, optimum reflection reduction and exceptional chromatic correction."

Adopting the Micro Four Thirds System standard, the new lens offers a wide and long zoom range of 14-140mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-280mm) to suit a large variety of shooting situations, from scenery to portraits or telephoto shots, in a surprisingly compact and lightweight body.

Panasonic Lumix G Vario 7-14mm lens : Panasonic unveils a new interchangeable ultra wide-angle zoom lens called the Panasonic Lumix G VARIO 7-14mm/F4.0 ASPH. In spite of its impressive wide-angle zoom range of 7-14mm (35mm camera equivalent; 14-28mm), the new lens is surprisingly compact and lightweight for casual on-the-go use. Taking advantage of its wide, 114-degree angle of view, users can easily fit subjects into the frame even when shooting indoors where the distance is limited. The world looks extraordinary when viewed through the new lens, allowing photos and movies to be recorded with a uniquely rich perspective.

Las Vegas pictures taken with Nikon 35mm

Dennis Hissink : 2009-03-03 16:40:00
Las Vegas picture gallery : At the beginning of this year, Nikon introduced a new lens specifically designed for DX format cameras. Yet, thanks to the DX support, it is also possible to use the new AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G in combination with Nikon FX DSLR cameras. During my visit to the PMA in Las Vegas, I took the wide-angle lens along and used it in combination with the Nikon D3x. Two extremes, but with extensive Nikon support for Nikon products mutually, just as we have come to expect from Nikon. The Nikon AF-S DX NIKKOR 35mm f/1.8G lens provides a maximum aperture of f/1.8 for a nicely blurred background with a very small depth of field. What's more, the length of the lens does not change while focusing.

Las Vegas photo gallery : Nikon 50mm

Dennis Hissink : 2009-03-03 16:30:00
Las Vegas test photos : During the Photokina, Nikon introduced a new wide aperture fixed-focal length lens, the Nikon AF-S NIKKOR 50mm f/1.4G lens. This lens has a fast maximum aperture of f/1.4 respectively for a bright viewfinder experience, beautiful background blur with shallow depth of field. Due to its fixed focal length, the Nikon 50mm lens is considered as standard lens for the FX DSLR such as the Nikon D3x, D3, and D700. If the Nikon 50mm is mounted on a DX DLSR such as the Nikon D300, D90, D60, or D40x, the picture angle reaches 75mm, thanks to the 1.5x focal length multiplier on DX DSLR cameras. Both this Nikon lens and the Nikon D3x became available in December, so we decided to take the pair along on one of our strolls.

Sigma 50-200mm F4-5.6 DC OS HSM lens : Sigma announces the new Sigma 50-200mm F4-5.6 DC OS HSM. This compact high-performance telephoto zoom lens incorporates Sigma’s own Optical Stabilizer function. The Sigma 50-200mm lens incorporates SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass in the front lens group and is equipped with an inner focusing system to provide high image quality throughout the entire zoom range. The incorporation of HSM (Hyper Sonic Motor) ensures quiet and high-speed auto focus. The OS (Optical Stabilizer) function effectively eliminates the effects of camera shake so subjects can be easily and clearly seen in the viewfinder as well as in the image. It allows the use of shutter speeds approximately 4 stops slower than normal for steady, handheld photography.

Ilse Jurriën : 2009-03-03 02:00:01
Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM lens : Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new Sigma 18-50mm F2.8-4.5 DC OS HSM lens. This large aperture standard zoom lens incorporates Sigma’s original Optical Stabilisation function. This lens offers a large aperture of F2.8 at 18mm wide angle. This large aperture and anti-shale function is ideal for indoor photography and in low lighting condition. For Sony and Pentax mount, the built-in OS function of this lens can be used even if the camera body is equipped with an anti-shake function. As compensation for camera shake is visible in the view finder, the photographer can easily check for accurate focus and ensure there is no subject movement.

Sigma 10-20mm

Ilse Jurriën : 2009-03-03 02:00:00
Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM lens : Sigma announces the new Sigma 10-20mm F3.5 EX DC HSM lens. This super-wide angle lens has a maximum aperture of F3.5 throughout the entire zoon range. Its wide angle of view from 102.4 degrees produces striking images with exaggerated perspective. The maximum aperture of F3.5 is ideal for indoor shooting and it enables photographers to emphasize the subject. Two ELD (Extraordinary Low Dispersion) glass elements and a SLD (Special Low Dispersion) glass element provide excellent correction of color aberration. Four aspherical lenses provide correction for distortion and allow compact and lightweight construction. The Super Multi-Layer coating reduces flare and ghosting. High image quality is assured throughout the entire zoom range.

Canon 24mm and 17mm Tilt-Shift lenses : Canon introduces two new Tilt-Shift lenses, the TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II and the TS-E 17mm f/4L. Both the Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II and the Canon TS-E 17mm f/4L are specialty lenses ideal for landscape and architectural photography and are compatible with all Canon EOS system single lens reflex cameras. The Canon TS-E 24mm f/3.5L II, a replacement for Canon's TS-E 24mm f/3.5L introduced in 1991, has significantly improved operability with low distortion when photographing buildings, consistent image quality throughout the image and reduced chromatic aberration when shooting at ultra-wide angles.

Sigma 18-250 mm lens : The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the launch of new SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens for Sigma, Nikon, Canon, Sony and Pentax digital SLR cameras. The SIGMA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 DC OS HSM lens incorporates Sigma’s original anti-shake compensation function, with a 13.8 times zoom ratio.
