Mobile handheld Intel reader : Intel announced the Intel Reader, a mobile handheld device designed to increase independence for people who have trouble reading standard print. The Intel Reader can assist the estimated 55 million people in the U.S. who have dyslexia or other specific learning disabilities, or have vision problems such as low-vision or blindness, which makes reading printed words difficult or impossible. The Intel Reader, about the size of a paperback book, converts printed text to digital text, and then reads it aloud to the user. Its unique design combines a high-resolution camera with the power of an Intel Atom processor, allowing users to point, shoot and listen to printed text.

Nintendo Wii Sports Resort record sales : Nintendo has provided staycations to thousands of people nationwide since the July 26 launch of its Wii Sports Resort game. More than 500,000 units of the game for the Nintendo Wii console sold in the United States through Aug. 3, according to Nintendo’s internal tracking numbers. The new game collection of 12 fun resort-themed sports lets players of all ages escape to a tropical island for some year-round summer fun. The remarkable sales figures published by Samsung amount to more than double the volume of LED TV's sold in the whole of 2008, a clear sign that demand for LED TV displays is a growing trend. Despite the economic climate demand for premium TV's are increasing. Some analysts think that as the financial pinch continues a lot of people will continue to invest in domestic or home leisure items such as TV's instead at the expense of other retail and pastime purchases such as going to the pub.

New digital photo frames showcased at PMA Show in Las Vegas : Digital photo frames continue to try and conquer a larger market share, in order to become a standard accessory in homes world-wide. Various suppliers showcased their latest digital frames, with or without designer edge. All depends on your personal taste, of course, but I have seen some frames I'd certainly never want to have in my house. These digital photo frames often provide innovative functions. HP demonstrated the possibility to directly print the picture of the frame wirelessly with the accompanying remote control through one of HP's photo printers. We also noticed a striking amount of Bluetooth techniques and more multi-functionality of the frames.
