New Android 2.0 Smartphones expected soon! : Android 2.0 is hot. That is to say; the news about this platform is overwhelming. The first Android-based phones came from Motorola, HTC and Samsung. Android 2 is the most recent version of the popular operating system. The upcoming period is expected to bring us more Android Smartphones. It's common knowledge that HTC is one of the manufacturers developing more than one Android Smartphone based on version 2.0. Unfortunately, dates of when these first HTC Android Smartphones are expected, are not yet known to us. Nor is it clear if current HTC mobile phones can be upgraded to Android 2.0.

New Samsung Omnia Smartphones presented at Millionaire Fair : During a crowded Summer Millionaire Fair 2009 in hotel 'Huis ter Duin' in Noordwijk aan zee, the Netherlands, Samsung Mobile officially launched two new Samsung Smartphones. The Samsung Omnia 2 may not have been a surprise to the connoisseur; it certainly did not spoil the fun. Like its predecessor, the Samsung Omnia 2 comes in a so-called Millionaire pack. In addition to the Omnia 2, the Samsung Omnia Millionaire Pack 2 contains a luxury leather travel case, a voucher for the Millionaire magazine, and a chance to win exclusive prizes. Gordon, a famous Dutch singer, was the first person to receive a copy of the Samsung Omnia Millionaire Pack 2 from the hands of Samsung.

PMA report 2009 - Digital camera highlights : First thing I noticed at the start of the PMA 2009 show, was the absence of the DSLR this year. Only Olympus with the E-620 and Panasonic with its LUMIX GH1 as Micro Four Thirds system camera, play a role and that is quite striking indeed. The PMA 2009 show focused on compact cameras, or better said: the features of a compact camera. However, it doesn't mean that this year is over just yet, in fact; the year has only just started and with several important events coming up in 2010 (for example the Olympic Winter Games) we can still expect more this year. In addition, there is also the Micro Four Thirds system with which Olympus has to come out in the open.

PMA 2010 in Anaheim, California : For those who are interested; it seems that booking early is worthwhile for its attractive price reductions; PMA 2010 will not be held in Las Vegas but in Anaheim, California. Personally, I am not looking forward to be imprisoned in Disneyworld for a week. Las Vegas has far more going for it when it comes to photography and entertainment. Anyway; PMA 2010 will be held from 21 - 23 February in the Disneyworld convention center. This seems to be an interesting date, because traditionally many introductions take place around that time, which makes an event like PMA more exciting. We will wait and see what next year's PMA 2010 will bring us.

Nikon digital camera at PMA 2009 Show : If there is one brand that has been performing superbly for the last year and a half, and even more important, has succeeded in standing out, it's Nikon. With an unparalleled battle concerning market share and a succession of new product launches, one success beaten by the other, Nikon has reached an extremely comfortable position. The introductions of the Nikon D3 and D300 digital SLR cameras were the start, and if you have followed last year’s developments, you will know how many Nikon imaging products succeeded after these two. Canon had to accept a big blow, which also had its effect in the professional world.

Pentax digital cameras at PMA 2009 : Pentax also attended PMA 2009, but the booth didn’t leave much to the imagination. The compact, completely white booth looked more similar to a sales booth than one for demonstrating and showcasing products. Naturally, the digital SLR cameras of Pentax were showcased as well as a new 15mm f/4 lens, although there was hardly any news, if even any at all, about DSLR cameras. Obviously, Pentax did not consider the PMA to be the right time to make an announcement. If you have doubts about a Pentax announcement coming up, be patient... for one or two months. By that time, we will reopen the Pentax book to add a new chapter...
