According to Aymar de Lencquesaing, Acer Senior Corporate Vice President, Acer will present fierce competition for Microsoft's Windows Mobile OS, starting in 2010. The Acer Android smartphones will strengthen Acer's position on the global market. Acer is a newcomer on the worldwide smartphone market and presently holds a market share of approximately 3.5%. Acer strives to achieve a market share of 6-7% in about the next 5 to 6 years.
