Sony DCR-DVD810 : Sony expects to shake up the camcorder industry with the introduction of its 2008 line of DVD Handycam camcorders featuring hybrid and hybrid-plus movie recording. “People have been drawn to the DVD category because they are so easy to use,” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. “Our 2008 line offers greater convenience through multiple recording options so you don’t have to worry about running out of media or missing a moment.” All 2008 DVD models include a new built-in zoom microphone. When you zoom in on a subject, the audio also zooms in for clearer sound recordings. The DCR-DVD810 model also delivers Dolby Digital 5.1-channel surround sound that delivers a life-like experience.

Sony Rolly : Taking center stage here at the Consumer Electronics show Sony unveiled the Rolly entertainment player. Spawned from the Sony portable audio technology and artificial intelligence, along with the company’s design and entertainment legacy, this palm-sized, egg-shaped device provides a unique combination of music, motion and fun. “The Sony Rolly is the latest example of Sony’s expertise in entertainment and technology,” said Steve Haber, senior vice president of the Digital Imaging and Audio Division at Sony Electronics. “This isn’t just another gadget; the Rolly is a sophisticated piece of entertainment technology.” The Sony Rolly device will be available this spring, price is not mentioned by Sony.

Sony 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo : Sony Europe’s Recording Media & Energy (RME) division announced the expansion of its high-definition recording options with the introduction of 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo media. The Sony Memory Stick PRO Duo large-capacity flash storage device is ideal for Sony’s new Handycam camcorders based on AVCHD technology as well as the latest high-resolution Sony cameras (Cyber-shot & Alpha digital SLR cameras). Users can store up to 110 minutes of high-definition video recorded in 1920 mode, almost 6 hours of HD video when shooting in 1440 LP mode, and more than 4000 still pictures in 10 Megapixel resolution. The Sony 16GB Memory Stick PRO Duo media will be available in March 2008.
