Sony DCR-SR220 : Sony is debuting a new hard drive Handycam camcorder with a sleek body and robust capacity to capture life’s longer moments. The 60GB Sony SR220 camcorder delivers continuous recording times (LP mode) of up to 41 hours. “Our new hard drive models incorporate intelligent and fun-to-use functions that will make people feel more confident in their moviemaking abilities” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. The Sony DCR-SR220 model features 15x Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* optics, 4 Megapixel digital still capture, and a 2.3 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor. This model includes imaging technologies shared with the company’s digital camera business to improve picture quality and performance.

Sony DCR-HC62 : Sony introduces a mini DV Handycam with feature sets that provide great value for the investment. The new Sony HC62 camcorder integrates a 25x optical Carl Zeiss Vario-Tessar zoom lens and a 1 Megapixel CCD imager provides excellent video, as well as 1 Megapixel digital still photos. For easy framing and viewing of footage, the Sony DCR-HC62 is equipped with a 2.7-inch wide (16:9) LCD touch panel screen. It has a Memory Stick PRO Duo media for easy management of photos, as well as a USB port for transferring video to a compatible PC and other devices. The Sony HC62 includes a helpful, on-screen usage guide that explains the menu functions, Super SteadyShot image stabilization for smoother video, and color viewfinders.

Sony DCR-DVD910 : Sony expects to shake up the industry with the introduction of its 2008 line of DVD Handycam camcorders featuring hybrid and hybrid-plus movie recording. “People have been drawn to the DVD category because they are so easy to use,” said Kelly Davis, director of camcorder marketing at Sony Electronics. “Our 2008 line offers greater convenience through multiple recording options so you don’t have to worry about running out of media or missing a moment.” At the top of the line is the Sony DVD910 camcorder with 15x Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T* optics and 2.3 Megapixel ClearVid CMOS sensor technology. The new Sony DCR-DVD910 camcorder will be available in March for about $650.
