Olympus Evolt E-520 review

Dennis Hissink : 2008-07-09 12:20:00
Olympus Evolt E-520 review : Since the introduction of the FourThirds system, Olympus have managed to extend their assortment of D-SLR cameras very nicely indeed. Especially over the last period, new models have been arriving frequently, which is ever so positive. We have received a new DSLR of Olympus that, although not introducing something entirely new, should not be considered merely a simple successor to the E-510. The Olympus E-520 has been improved sufficiently and has been equipped with additions that will make you seriously consider purchasing it. If only for Olympus' claim that elements of the E-3, the semi-professional model, have been integrated in this new model.

Olympus SP-570UZ review

Dennis Hissink : 2008-06-17 13:10:00
Olympus SP570 Ultra Zoom : In August 2005, Olympus introduced the very first camera from the new SP-5 series; the SP-500UZ camera. At the time it was a Megazoom camera that certainly featured high specifications; six Megapixels, a maximum ISO of 400 and an optical zoom with a 38-380mm range. Three years later, the fifth model of the SP-5 series lays before me; the Olympus SP-570UZ, the most recent Megazoom camera by Olympus. Looking at the specifications, we clearly see the evolution this camera model underwent. Instead of six, there's now room for ten Megapixels on the small image sensor, and the sensitivity of 6400, albeit with a limited resolution, surpasses the 'high' 400 ISO setting of that of its predecessor. > Read our full Olympus SP570 UZ review.

Olympus E420 review

Dennis Hissink : 2008-06-08 10:00:00
Olympus E-420 review : Although we just experienced a hectic period with many introductions, Olympus introduced, rather unexpectedly, their new digital SLR sibling; the Olympus E420. The Olympus E420 SLR is clearly based on the E410, which was introduced last year, but has undergone some changes when it comes to the inner parts of the camera. Almost immediately after the introduction, we received a full production model in combination with the standard ZUIKO Digital zoom lens (14-42mm) and a beautiful super compact lens, the 25mm pancake f/2.8 lens. The Olympus E420, the kit lens 14-42mm and the new 25mm pancake lens form an interesting DSLR set. > Read our review about the Olympus E420 and find out more about this SLR set.

ZUIKO wide angle lens for a unique perspective

Mark Peters : 2008-05-15 22:51:01
ZUIKO extreme wide angle lens for a unique perspective : In yet another expansion to the rapidly growing E-System lens line-up, Olympus unveils the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm 1:4.0-5.6 (18-36mm *Figure in brackets represents 35mm camera equivalent.) extreme wide angle lens. This affordable complement to the ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 18-180mm 1:3.5-6.3 (36-360mm) enables stunningly original perspectives with an extra-wide field of view. And at just 280g, it weighs in at significantly less than those of the competition. The Four Thirds-based ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm 1:4.0-5.6 (18-36mm) extreme wide angle lens will go on sale in 2008. The ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm 1:4.0-5.6 (18-36mm) lens will become available in 2008.

Olympus E520

Nic Rossmüller : 2008-05-13 09:35:00
Olympus E520 : The perfect moment doesn’t wait. That’s why serious photographers need serious equipment so that they are ready for whatever comes. With its pro features and top image quality, the new Olympus E-520 D-SLR fits the bill perfectly. The next evolution to the EISA Award-winning Olympus E-500 digital camera series incorporates a built-in image stabiliser to ensure blur-free shots irrespective of the lens attached - no matter if wide-angle or ultra-tele and without the need for a tripod. Matched with the Supersonic Wave Filter dust protection system and improved Live View capabilities, the freedom to frame and take great, crystal-clear photos with the Olympus E520 digital camera is virtually limitless.

Red Sea diving with Olympus E-3

Karin Brussaard : 2008-05-06 12:00:00
Red Sea scuba diving with Olympus E-3 : The Olympus E3 is the new flagship based on the Four Thirds standard E-System. The Olympus E3 is an extremely advanced camera that can be used for every assignment and fully complies with the strict requirements of DSLR photography. I was given the opportunity to try out this camera underwater. Underwater the circumstances are different than on land and it demands a lot from the camera. The biggest problem is bleaching by the sun. A wide-angle shot of the coral and the sea usually doesn't turn out nice at the spot where the blue water and the lighter area of the surface meet. But the Olympus E-3 is perfectly capable of dealing with large differences between light and dark areas. > Read our Olympus E-3 underwater review.

Olympus E3 Review

Dennis Hissink : 2008-03-31 15:00:00
Olympus E3 Digital SLR review : In 2003 Olympus introduced the first model of the FourThirds System: the Olympus E-1, aiming at the professional digital photographer and equipped with various innovations. Four years later Olympus have come up with the successor to the E1. There had been some rumour about the name; Olympus P1, P3 and E3 were mentioned and the latter was chosen. Although the Olympus E3 may be considered the successor to the Olympus E-1, it differs considerably from its predecessor. Among other things; its price tag. The Olympus E3 digital SLR finds itself more or less in the category of the Canon EOS 40D and the Nikon D300, a heavy competition. > Continue to read our full Olympus E3 review!

Olympus E-420 photo gallery

Dennis Hissink : 2008-03-25 13:15:00
Olympus E-420 digital SLR camera : Its predecessor has been around for a while so it's high time to introduce a fresh sibling of the Olympus family to the world. Time for a new FourThirds SLR; the Olympus E420. The appearance of this camera is not that much striking since we are already acquainted with the E410 as an ultra-compact DSLR and the Olympus E420 is comparable. However, Olympus have carried out some rigorous internal changes that lift in particular the image quality to a high level. The image sensor remains the same in relation to sensitivity and ISO 1600 is the highest possible setting. The sensor itself has been somewhat improved and Olympus claim that it nearly equals the quality of the Olympus E-3. A claim that certainly draws the attention to Olympus!
