X-Rite interview

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-03-30 11:00:00
X-Rite interview at PMA : Colour management… a subject that doesn't mean much to today’s consumers. For the professional however, it is part of his daily business and integrated in his workflow. The distance between science and need and ignorance seems to suffer from an unbridgeable gap. Companies such as X-Rite are trying hard to make the consumer aware of the available solutions on the field of calibration, profiles etc. In short the so-called colour management. X-Rite showed many products for the amateur as well as for the professional. X-Rite will come with a whole new product soon, about which we will inform you in due time. Michelle Hamme, Inside Sales Representative of X-Rite USA gave some of her precious time to talk with Bas de Meijer.

Geotate interview

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-03-25 08:35:00
Geotate interview : Digital photography continues to develop. If not on the field of image quality or intelligent software then on extra features. Shooting itself is no longer satisfying. We want to do more and more with the captured pictures. Such as linking them to the place where they were taken. Geotagging is becoming the magical word. We witnessed a few of these applications and possibilities at the PMA show. One of the companies is Geotate, spin-out of NXP. They have invented a method of geotagging accurately without hardly any power consumption. We interviewed Hans Streng, CEO of Geotate about geotagging, GPS and naturally about their application. A pleasant talk about a near future subject.

Interview with Sigma lens manufacturer

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-03-17 00:10:00
Sigma interview at PMA : Sigma are famous and renowned as lens manufacturer. Sigma offer the solution for nearly every subject; whether it is a circular fisheye of 4.5 mm or a super telephoto zoom lens with a range of 200-500 mm and a large aperture of f/2.8. Besides their specialization in lenses, Sigma also manufacture digital single lens reflex cameras and have recently put a compact camera, the Sigma DP1, in the market. The latter had some hardware problems since its official introduction which delayed shipping of the model. The problems have now been solved and the DP1 is expected to be available from March 2008. Bas de Meijer couldn't wait to ask Kazuto Yamaki, Chief Operating Officer Sigma Japan, some questions.

Pentax interview

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-03-10 17:00:00
Pentax interview at PMA : January of this year Pentax introduced two new digital SLR cameras. One of the models, the Pentax K20D has been equipped with a 14 Megapixel image sensor. This is quite surprising and Pentax together with Samsung (GX20) are now delivering a digital SLR camera for the amateur with the highest resolution ever. Bas de Meijer had an appointment with John Carlson, Product Manager Imaging Systems, Pentax USA, on the last day of the PMA 2008 to go through a few subjects with him. Besides the interesting offer of DSLR cameras, Pentax also offer a line of compact cameras (Optio) but it seems that this segment gets less attention lately. Time to get some answers as to Pentax's plans for 2008; an interview with John Carlson.

Interview Panasonic

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-03-03 11:11:11
Panasonic interview at PMA : Panasonic entered the market with the Lumix digital compact camera line only a couple of years ago. We have seen Panasonic grow and the last generation of digital cameras is without a doubt impressive. Bas de Meijer sat down with Ichiro Kitao, Product Planning Manager Panasonic Optical Group, to ask him several questions. Besides the new compact camera line that was introduced just before the PMA kicked off, there are a few models that stand out, such as the Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 and the Lumix FX35 digital cameras. Last year's introduced L10 DSLR camera is the second DSLR camera in the assortment that was introduced conform Panasonic's planning. Bas de Meijer's interview with Ichiro Kitao;

Canon interview

Ilse Jurriën : 2008-02-26 20:45:00
Canon interview at PMA : Despite a very busy schedule Bas de Meijer has interviewed some of the exhibitors during the PMA 2008 show in Las Vegas. One of the interviewees was Richard Trestain, Digital camera product specialist of Canon. Before the Photo Marketing Association 2008 kicked off, Canon introduced a number of new digital compact camera models and one new digital SLR camera for the upcoming season. Canon have been a leading brand for years in relation to worldwide sales of digital cameras. This is not something to take for granted. To apply high technical innovations or to integrate novelties into a product at the right moment is the key to successfully sell products. Richard Trestain answers a number of questions.
