AgfaPhoto cameras at 2008 PMA in Las Vegas : AgfaPhoto digital cameras and digital video products will be added to the VistaQuest product line presented at the 2008 PMA in Las Vegas. The distribution contract between VistaQuest and AgfaPhoto’s digital still and video manufacturer and license holder, plawa-feinwerktechnik GmbH & Co. KG of Germany, permits distribution in the US, Mexico and Canada. Michael Roessler, plawa CEO remarked: "With VistaQuest we have gained an experienced specialist for distribution in North America. FotoNation Smile Check technology : FotoNation, a provider of embedded imaging solutions for the imaging industry, announced the availability of licensing for “SmileCheck,” a new technology to detect smiles in portrait photos taken by digital cameras and camera phones. The new technology is being debuted at the 2008 Photo Marketing Association (PMA) Convention, held this week from January 31-February 2, 2008 in Las Vegas. SmileCheck is an extension module of FotoNation’s currently shipping FaceTracker product line. By monitoring the video preview stream in the cameras during framing, SmileCheck first looks for faces in the scene of the photo. Once faces are detected, the software looks for facial features associated with smiles.

Fujifilm and Xerox at PMA 2008 : Fujifilm USA, Inc. and Xerox Corporation will further demonstrate how their alliance provides customers with integrated software and printing solutions to create personalized photo specialty merchandise at PMA 2008, the photo industry’s largest annual trade show. With a joint booth presence at PMA 2008, Fujifilm and Xerox will showcase their product offerings featuring Fujifilm’s software and photofinishing workflow integration services and Xerox branded printers, including the Xerox DocuColor 252 Digital Color Printer/Copier and Xerox Phaser 7760. The Xerox iGen3 110 Digital Production Press will also be center stage at the show printing photo specialty applications.
